  • Do you like WoW? Would you like WoW even more if the pace is dictated by the developer and not you while you sit through long ass conversations about getting 10 speeder parts? If so, then yes by all means.

I've decided I'm waiting a while on it until enough people complain and want to be able to skip to the end of the discussions before I get it.

    • I did like how when you killed something the glow of the come loot me column of light let you know if you had anything good in it. Not a huge deal in the long run but a nice touch.

      • Yeah, but was annoying that only like 1 in 3 mobs had loot. The area looting was great, but you hardly have more than one thing to loot.

        • Haha, the skipping of the conversations thing is funny to me. I can see it being an issue if you're on your 15th alt, but this at least attempts to bring me into the story as opposed to most MMO's where it's a big block of text that I just close out of to grab my 10 dire wolf paws.

          • Plus the light/dark side options are fun to play with. I think people who are into just uber loot won't like it but people into storytelling will IMO.

            • I can read the subtitles much faster than the discussions go. I'd like the option to turn on subtitles and just read those. I don't like the light/dark side stuff because Bioware continues to have that ridiculous morally right or wrong 100% look of the world that isn't realistic at all. Plus it locks you out of gear. Unless there are repeatable light/dark quests (which is ABSURB from a story standpoint) then you'll run out of chances to push your meter one way or the other.

I like storytelling but some of the discussions were utterly pointless and long winded. I think there's a happy middle ground there somewhere.

I'd enjoy the light/dark side if it didn't lock you out of gear. MMO's are about advancing your character. If you're locked out of gear you're not able to play the game. If the light/dark side attached itself to actually changing the world around you or was only a physical change on your character then I would be totally cool with it. But as it is now? Always hit 1 or 3 depending on which gear you want.

EDIT: To what Josh said, yeah I don't need that long to be told to go on a collection quest. Save the nice VO work for interesting quests that explain what is going on in a zone, the situation, what the ultimate goal is. A VO that says "hey man grab me 10 power convertors for this generator and I got ducats for you!" is fine. I don't need a dissertation on the storm that came through and took down the power and now your sister is sick so you can't go out and get the convertors.

                    • I like that as it adds flavor to the game IMO, and you should never be able to get all of the loot. You make your choice and deal with the consequences.

                      • You shouldn't be able to get both the gear for being good and being bad. That's silly.

                        • I never said you should be able to get both, but if you don't go all the way one or the other you can't get either. Gear will requires different levels of light or dark. So if you pick light side options 1/3 of the time and hit level 2 dark side you're locked out of level 3 dark side gear because you actually took part in the story. That's just bad design. You promote the story but then punish players once they've finished the story questing and begin working on gear.

                          • So you have to be good or bad in the most absolute way or you are cornholed? Sounds like Star Wars philosophy 101.

I had an 80 Mage, a 70-something Druid and more alts than I knew what to do with when I stopped playing. Problem for me was, I didn't care for arenas or raiding or maxing out all my professions so there was no end-game appeal. I would just keep rolling alts, enjoyed trying new classes and leveling more than grinding out faction rep and doing constant runs for lewtz.

For TOR I think the characters, players and npc, look really bland and stiff, and the combat looks really.. I dunno, uninteresting. But then again I'm used to running in as a giant cow, firing off LAZOR BEEMZ then transforming into a giant shit-pushing bear or lion, killing faces and finally away as a cowbird thing. Maybe the whole standing in one spot smacking someone with a vibrosword or shooting them with a blaster is more enjoyable to do than to watch.

Really enjoyed KOTOR, even the Jedi Knight/Academy games.. and most every Bioware rpg. So I'm torn..

                              • Don't go by KOTOR. I think them saying "this is like KOTOR 3-7" is the most disingenuous thing they could have done.
