I bit the bullet and got the game. Installed it and now I can't get it to load. Keep getting a bunch of Not Responding screens.

I had problems with the .net platform and it took me hours to get it up and running. Check the support forums as I've seen numerous issues with the game, most of which have some sort of fix. Hopefully yours is one with a fix.

Knocked out my audio card in the process. Need to get that renabled.

Actually, that was the short answer. Long answer is to mine, build, beat bosses, acquire gear, and wait till the next update, if you've played too much and acquired everything. Like me.

Billy, you have to have a bed, chair, light source AND walls for them to move in. Walls being the thing I didn't know you had to have up. Makes sense though. And yeah Nerdious knows EVERYTHING about this game lol.

William, what is the size of your house? Do you have a table, chair, light source, door, stone or wood walls/brick? I read it has to be 4x8 but my rooms are 5x12.

For the merchant, you need to have 50 silver.
The nurse will appear after you've found and used a crystal heart.
The demolitionist will appear when you've found a stick of dynamite.
The arms dealer will appear when you find a gun.
The dryad will appear after you kill a boss.
And the guide (should) automatically move into your house.

Also, be aware that depending on the size of your starting world, you MAY not acquire everything. I started on a small world and got really fucking lucky. I was able to acquire all the rare items from the treasure chests on the floating islands and shadow orbs in the corruption areas.

Got the nurse and demolitionist to show up, so I think I have all but Dryad now. The eye of Cthulu spawned and promptly fucked me up.

Make a gold pocket watch and start right at 8PM. Shurikens and boomerangs are the best type of weapon against the Eye. Build a wood platform, preferably, about 10-50 feet higher than your NPCs' house.

haha, I'm totally playing this wrong. Haven't built shit, just keep digging deeper. Large world for the win.

I have no idea what size world I made. Think I did small, but don't want to start over now that I have legit gear, and all my NPCs.

I also have to fix my audio card because of this game. I haven't had audio since I bought this game.
