  • I don't think it's soap opera-y at all. Some of the personal relationships outside the work place are examined, but ultimately they are all shown to affect the work place (police, courts, streets).

    • Sheeeit, even Agent Fitzhugh showed for the bash.

      Good for McNutty.

Apparently someone did a mash-up of 'The Wire' and 'Toy Story' to rather humorous effect.

                • Cranked through most of Season 3 this weekend. I'm operating under the assumption that all of you have either
                  a. seen the show
                  or
                  b. don't care about spoilers

                    Spoiler: Spoiler

We KNEW that Stringer was gonna get killed by either Brother Mouzone or Omar. Having BOTH of them do it was awesome and fitting. That episode was one of the absolute best hours that I've ever seen. WOW.

We're also loving the fallout from Hammsterdam. Watching the mayor, the commissioner, and Carcetti position themselves strategically has been fascinating...I have a suspicion that Carcetti WINS...

We've got one episode left of Season 3 and then it's on to Season 4.

                  • It was probably one of the most badass team up ever put on celluloid.

Those 2 together make the whole cast of The Expandables look like pussies.

                    • And Matt, season 4 was the best for me (of the best series ever). The kids really made it work.

                        • Three episodes into Season 4, now. It's off to a great start (LOVE Marlo and his crew) but I'm scared of the fact that we're gonna get a 'Dangerous Minds' type situation with Prez.

I'm kinda scared by the fact that everyone on the 'team' has gone their separate ways. I hope that shit comes together soon.

                          • Oh Matt, have you not learned to trust The Wire yet? Prez is not going to become The Pfeif. Keep some tissues around for your wife. Probably yourself too.

                            • I trust the show and I trust you guys regarding it...you haven't steered me wrong yet. Still, I'm not really big on classroom shit; if that's a big focus this season then I'm worried. All of this 'Prez can't control his classroom' shit is a cliche...so far.

Also, I HATE what the other kids are doing to Dookie. I kinda cheered for him a bit when, after the little fat girl cut her tormenter's face, he went over and comforted her.

                              • I don't think it focuses on the classroom as much as you have been led to believe. It's focus turns more towards the failures of the educational system, the city supporting education, and how the poverty/crime affects the children in places like West Baltimore. Prez is there with his classroom to act as our cipher to just how fucked everything is. It's not going to be a ton of "oh snap white teach ain't gon' tell me sheeeeeeeeeeit!"
