Couple years back, I attened a local book fair and Willie Brown who was State Speaker for many years was there shilling his book. This man HAD to have been one of many inspirations for Clay Davis.

watched episodes 8 and 9 last night. Jesus, this show...

LOVED watching Omar use the payphones to lure Avon outside. That entire sequence (even IF it was a botched hit) was awesome. Also loved seeing Stringer Bell taking macroeconomics classes...LOVE that he's a businessman and sees the big picture on things while also being a stone cold motherfucker.

Did episodes 10 and 11 last night. Was very, very surprised at Greggs getting shot like that, but I loved all of the fallout from it.

Thoughts:
- Bubbles is trying to get clean. I'm on the fence as to whether or not he succeeds or not.
- Loved the scene where D'Angelo thinks that he's going to get executed when, in truth, he's merely being asked to take care of Wee-Bay's fish.
- Disappointed to see Omar take a bus out of town. I'm assuming that he comes back for the trial, but I HOPE that he comes back for later seasons. LOVED the whole exchange between him and Stringer where they talked about the 'truce'.
- Loved the scene where Rawls helps McNulty get through the Greggs shooting. 'I hate your guts, but this isn't on you. Bad things happened and you move on'.

2 episodes left in Season 1. It'll be interesting to see how they end this. I hope that Greggs lives.

That scene with Rawls and McNulty is one of the best of the season. Not THE best, that comes later.

It also shows that Rawls isn't an asshole for personal reasons. It's mainly because of the fucked up nature of his job and the ungodly amount of pressure on him.
