Totally worth it for the 5.1 setup. Plus the reciever comes with (if it's the same model, I'm not sure atm) with a mic that will automatically configure your setup for you. Make a hell of a difference.

Try newegg.com it's like 20 bucks cheaper...this is a solid unit. I have a similar set up in my bedroom and it rocks. You will not be let down.

"DOES NOT DO HDMI UPCONVERT, i bought this thinking i could plug all my systems into it and just run 1 hdmi cable to my projector, doesnt work that way though, the only signals you can send to the tv/projector through hdmi are the ones that come in on hdmi"

                      What exactly does this mean?

Hmms. Not sure. I can't remember how I have my shit hooked up. I do know that my ps3 and tv both have the HDMI cables, and my dvd player did until I got my PS3.

Basically the receiver won't upconvert. You can still use it as a central hub but the HDMI signal coming out doesn't upconvert. If that makes sense...for your application this doesn't matter. And typically, you want to run your sound and video direct to whichever unit is doing that job. For example for best picture quality, you run your video input directly to your tv/monitor, this way there's no loss in quality. Same thing with sound, run your audio directly to the receiver...hope this makes sense.

That's the one I have basically. Works perfectly for me. And the upconverting dvd player is pretty decent. Plus HDMI and optical. Maybe Corey will say it sucks, but I dig it.
Suck: man this thing is horrible, hahahah just playing, this looks like a good deal.

Ok a little more of a dummy breakdown ( no offense) basically what up converting does is it takes a low signal ( composite,s-video,or component) and "upgrades" the signal through HDMI. Now Big B is 50/50 on video through the receiver, If you spend the bucks ($400 +)on a receiver that has HDMI upconverting, than you will not get any signal loss, but since you are on a budget, than i would recommend running video straight to your TV/Monitor and audio staright to the receiver
