    Re: Home theater

if anything, check out and do your research over at avforums. there's reviews from owners about anything and everything that has to do with home theater. i probably won't spend more than $700 on my receiver but i'll probably still hold off on that since i live in an apartment and would really like to not get kicked out because my volume was too high. hahahah. so i'm just using the speakers the tv came with for now and it works well.

      Re: Home theater

Sorry im so late Nathan, but better late than never.. Ok so that you are not getting to discouraged, here is a few things to think about. #1 maybe 5-6yrs ago you needed to spend $2-$3,000 on a system, but now a days you can have a low price system, and have it sound as good as the guy who spent $3,000.00 on his " cough nerdous dorkous cough cough".

#2 im not a huge fan of Sony recievers, though they may be the king of home theatre in a box, im still not a fan.. Sony speakers on the other hand are still in good standing with me.

#3 what is your Apartment / House like as far as damping goes.. ( do you have carpet or hardwood floors or tile, drapes/blinds, Pictures/paintings/posters etc) The reason i ask this is becasue the more damping you have for sound, will give you less vibration/echo, to give your system extra ummmph with out blasting it, and a sub will have great lows and less vibration.

#4 Even if you have maney for it please do not by any means get BOSE, you will be highly disapointed.. Remember this when you see BOSE --- "No highs, No lows it must be BOSE"

#5 I know you want a $200.00 or under system, but it really wont happen.. Your reciever should be at least that cost.. Since the reciever is the power of the sound, you want one that can handle future upgrades, now you don't have to have one that has HDMI in/out puts, thats what your tv is for, but to Rob's point in makes it easier for wire hookup. Most systems don't use the TV speakers, and most people want just to turn on the TV and have it on one input.. It's your choice.

#6 Depending on the size of the room your putting this in, you cna have small bookshelf speakers, front and rear. When it comes to the SUBWOOFER makes sure it is a powered sub (built in amp) most 8" subs kick some major ass just keep that in mind.

End result is look into spending at least $350-$500, i know it sounds like much but you will be much happier in the end

      Brands i like--
      Recievers- Yamaha or Denon
Speakers- Energy, Triad,Yamaha, Sonance, Polk Audio, Infinity
Subwoofer- Sonance, Triad, Earthquake, Energy, Velodyne, Infinity

Awesome! Thank you! The more I was looking around the more I was figuring $200 or less wasn't going to do it. Will keep my eyes peeled and more than likely consult you before purchasing.

Corey... since your the man to speak too..... I bought a house a few years ago and did lots of remodeling, one is that I changed the pitch of the ceiling in the family room and I was able to put in some in wall mounted speakers. The speakers are some 6 1/2 inch JBL and they suck ass! The speakers are mounted 8ft above the couch, do you have any suggestion's on a differnt type of speaker I can use and possibly a directional type?

The best thing to do would be spend as much as you can on a decent reciever. Then piece together the rest when you have money. The reciever is the key. Well that and the center speaker. For cereal!

Looks solid, I would like to see the back of the receiver first though. Yamaha pumps good power. It has two HDMI inputs which is key...
