Not really, Rob. True story - I had no desire whatsoever to see Silence of the Lambs with my then girlfriend, as I didn't know what it was about (I was going by the poster and somebody mentioned something about psychiatry, so I figured it was going to be some empowering chick flick. Oy, was I wrong!). But, as I had promised to take her to see it... yeah, I enjoyed it she was freaked out a bit. So was the audience we saw it with.
From what I understand it's supposed to be dwelling in SOTL territory a bit here and there (damn thing got coverage in Fangoria of all places), so I figure this'll be a lock.

Same, but it's more monetary issue than anything. I MISS THE DRAFTHOUSE. Soon as Brittany gets a new job I'm sure we will be back at the Drafthouse every weekend. I want to see this as well, so does Brittany, but I want to see True Grit a lot more. Well, the money issue is a definite part of it, Billy. Jen and I are always up for going out to dinner, taking in a movie, etc. for our date nights, but we're realizing more and more that we cant stand some of the theaters around here (fellow audience members, longer commercial BS before the movie starts, the ticket and food prices getting jacked up), and the DVD release dates are getting shorter and shorter since the film release dates (Salt came out 5 months ago, and the DVD is out this week already), and it's cheaper to rent the flick and a couple of others and do a marathon at home.Comment

I just think I'll feel the same way I did after Requiem. Like shit, all depressed. If I'm going to make the effort to drive to a theater and spend 10 bucks, I would rather leave the theater all pumped and enthusiastic.Comment

Antidote movies are critical. Heard that, Matt. I factor that in when I rent a bunch of DVDs as to which one I'll watch first, and which to follow up with. Most often, I'll start with something light as a palate cleanser, then follow up with a main course - a heavy drama or something that I'll need to chew on mentally to fully get or appreciate. If the film is too depressing, or a bit overwhelming for one go, I'll throw in something else to mellow things out.Comment

I was talking about films that challenge the viewer and may put them through something uncomfortable to get them to a better understanding of things. If it means being glum a while after, so what? The juice is worth the squeeze.
