Who is worse? Bay or Emmerich?

Bay is an extremely well-versed director who can make a camera sing. But, he has no ability to understand human emotion.

Emmerich is a German who spent his early years directing shit that made fetish fecal films look stellar. He has no training, no artistry and no sense of craft.

Give Bay all the shit you want, but the guy can shoot a film. He just sucks at everything else.

also, I'll defend 'The Patriot' as (arguably) Emmerich's best film. Many of the characters have an actual arc to them and the story goes in some unexpected places. Gibson's first attack on the redcoats while his kids watch from the trees is masterfully done.

Totally agreed on those fucking designs. I mean I get realism but FFS all those small parts would break easily. Lulz.

You and Rob are right - the 'bots are way overdesigned to the point of I have no clue who's who, what's what, or what the hell's going on. From what I did see of TF2, it had me shaking my head.

Also, yeah, realism's fine, but when you're talking two transforming alien robots beating the shit out of each other, believe me, the audience isn't going to be haranguing you for piston and camshaft accuracy or how great the hydraulics looked. SIMPLIFY THAT SHIT!

I´d think you´d have to go waaaaay back to Moon 44 to find an Emmerich movie that could be labeled anything even closely resembling "good".
