It's a nice one. I think I mentionned it earlier on the thread. I loved the racist old guy. I fear most people unaware of the racial tensions in France will see this character as over-the-top, and the thing is: he ain't. Although it's mainly against Muslims.

The whole sequence just felt contrived to me. The baby just happens to be able to climb out of his crib, he just happens to be able to open the baby gate, he watches the parents bone with reckless abandon yet they don't notice, he moves a freaking chair to the table and no one notices, he knocks three statues off the table and no one notices. All of that while the window is wide open during the middle of a fucking snow storm?

Having kids I can tell you either one of them would have heard that kid as soon as he was out of his crib. Or at least would have noticed him standing in the doorway. All of that made it ring so hollow for me. That's why it was comical. The actual shot of the kid falling was particularly heart wrenching but I couldn't buy into it totally because of all the other things that came before it.

I honestly believe that his administration was successful in stopping a LOT of attacks that we'll NEVER know about...some of them BAD.
I also believe that the economic collapse that effected the entire world was going to happen REGARDLESS of the economic policies put forth by the Bush administration, but I ALSO believe that those policies made the collapse WORSE than they would have been otherwise.

I'm not defending the guy, but I'm also not one of those people that thinks that he was evil incarnate. I'm tired of people that, if they saw a picture of him petting a puppy, would claim that he kicked it when the camera was out of view.
