Also, there's "Jay Landsman" the fat Homicide sergeant and the real Jay Landsman. He shows up in a bit role in Season 2 and in later episodes.

I love listening to that guy talk.

True heartbreak, proving that awards don't mean shit because The Wire got NOTHING.

I love the hell out of season 2, got it as a gift some time ago.

I had always meant to finish my review of the show, Seasons 3-5 remain.
I'd say season 2 is more of a tangent to the main arc, where 3 really goatses-up the scope: the beginnings of the Carcetti storyline, more Omar, more Stringer, more Mouzone, and all with Hamsterdam as the backdrop.

Granted, part of what makes season 3 and on so good is that they allowed for enough narrative time to pass before certain developments could be made in regards to certain characters (subterfuge FTW), which I guess validates season 2, but it is much more of a tangent than any of the other seasons. It's more of a setup to the inevitable title fight

between Stringer Bell and a bullet to the dome.

Not saying it is bad, mind you. It is Simon after all.

              Wait until the third season.

Bunny will show you great and turrible things.

              All will be revealed...

(But here's a little slice of futurepie: "The term 'Hamsterdam' (or sometimes 'Hampsterdam') has been used to characterize urban districts which are ignored by police. For example the historic Springfield district in Jacksonville Florida is referred to as 'Hamsterdam' in bulletin board posts. A blog about a part of Brooklyn is also referring to Hamsterdam." - from a Wiki)

Interesting bit of trivia: Many of the actors from The Wire show up in various episodes of Homicide: Life on the Street. There are even proto-story lines from Homicide that show up in The Wire.

I can't recommend Homicide enough, but you can definately skip the last season. Season 6 is also iffy.

Got Simon's eponymous book coming along with my Wire berkz set. Heard nothing but slurping sounds from everyone trying to convey their affection for it.

Ya fucking right, there would be a need to break out the knee pads. Book is a great piece of nonfiction. Damn show made me want to be in law enforcement despite how ungodly futile the work is.

Plus, it blew my mind to see detectives carry silver badges. It's the weird nature of the Baltimore Police Department.
