I mean, okay, I see her point to an extent - it's hard to live in NJ and not have a car. I get that. But man... ease up. Look at the bigger picture. Yes, it was a $14,000 Challenger, and yes they have kids etc. But her car saved a guy's life. And the guy in question has far bigger problems right now than she does. And to say that to the press? To the NY POST of all papers? Jesus, the Post lives for that shit! She should have known better.

I should have noted "With apologies to Lisa, Tim and Iggy." Alas, you get what I was saying.

            *can'tgetmadatyaHowardasyou'regoodpeopleandyoudidr aiseavalidpointfist* to Howard.

Lisa's right, though. Dippy chick should've let her husband handle the media, or said exactly what Lisa thought - "I'm just glad our car was in the right place at the right time to save the poor guy's life. Yes, it cost us our car, but it was more than worth it, especially if the poor guy gets the help he needs." Take that tack, and damn if somebody won't buy these two a new car for their trouble and as a reward for being good people.

I'm waiting for the coffee to kick in, and right now my brain is a little slow, because I never even thought of that - but damn if you're not right! And now? She really DID probably just screw them out of a new car, because the public is not really crazy about the remarks she made! It's like - they're totally forgetting what her husband said, and just thinking about what she said. If she'd shut up and let her husband's good will come shining through to the press, I'd bet the donations for them to get a new car would have come pouring in.

I can forgive Howard's NJ comments because... eh, whaddya gonna do? Sometimes you gotta call 'em as you see 'em.

                Hah, bitch!

                http://www.nydailynews.com/news/ny_c...ttack_sur.html

                It's about fucking time, too.

Oh, and I love this quote:

Jackson's mother said she believed her daughter was innocent.

"Yes, I do," said Cynthia Jackson.
Of course you believe she's innocent. Otherwise, what kind of person does it make YOU to know that you raised the kind of monster who'd choose to become an EMT, and then walks past a pregnant woman collapsed on the floor because she can't be bothered to help her? Of course you think that piece of shit you raised is innocent - you wouldn't be able to sleep at night if you didn't convince yourself of that, lady.

You realize this now raises the expectations of every bleeding heart liberal/gun control nut in New York. The next time a cop gets involved in a gunfight, everyone and their mother will cry to the heavens...

"Why couldn't he shoot the gun out of his hand like what's-her-face did?"

Well... not everyone is blessed with those kind of skills. Especially beat cops. And not everyone is blessed with that kind of blind shithouse luck. I've been shooting for 20 some odd years, and while I can put a bullet up a bunny's ass at 800 meters, it's unlikely I could ever shoot a gun from someone's hand. Nor would I. I was taught to aim for the head.

Her 15 minutes of fame will come back to haunt her... and not in a good way. Especially since she scored a promotion out of the deal. A lot of her fellow officers are going to be exceptionally resentful.

My understanding from a story I read on it yesterday was that both shots were errant, and she was actually aiming center mass. At least she hit the hand, but that door could have been a civilian.

                            Oookay then. Nevermind.

You sure this dismissiveness isn't just because she's a woman, right? Just checking.

In this case, I doubt it's sexually motivated. It's more the fact that she pulled off a very difficult and/or very lucky shot, the result of which helped bump her up to becoming a detective. I don't know the full story, but I'd give her the benefit of the doubt that she was likely already on the path to becoming a detective, and this arrest and the publicity surrounding it helped carry her over.

There very likely will be some grumbling amongst her peers, but I honestly believe the same would hold true if this incident happened to a male police officer.

I'm not trying to be dismissive, just saying in another article I read the events were portrayed much different. She also did not have the drop on the guy, she came right out in front of a guy with a gun and risked herself and the people in the shop. If he had shot and killed her what would stop him from killing all of them? Regardless of gender it was a bad decision. Wait and see if he comes back into the room and have your gun ready so you have the drop on him.

And that she basically failed upward for getting two lucky shots is bad PR. The promotion is straight out of The Wire.

EDIT: let is also be said I am currently re-visiting The Wire so my disenfranchisement with the system is at a high.
