I truly believe that America is on the precipice of a major upheaval politically/socially. What frightens me is that it really isn't clear, in which direction America will end up going. Certainly I am very tempted to uproot myself and seek my fortune in a more stable country but I fear the loss of even one sane person in America. I hope sane heads will eventually prevail.

I think America isn't going to end up leaning either way. I think it's going to be a sociopolitical war, and people like the Tea Party aren't afraid to use force. So when I say buy guns, I'm only halfheartedly making a joke.

Extremely doubtful. I think we're in for at least 2-3 years of unpleasantness. The sides are too evenly drawn and it's going to take something major to push one side to a super majority and basically squash the other side. By sides, I don't mean Republican/Democratic. At the basic idealogical level. I have a feeling that we're seeing the birthing pains of a true viable 3rd party (sorry Libertarians and Green Party people).

What really, really, really scares me is that the Tea Party buying up guns/ammo is not a joke. My gun range I go to literally has not been able to buy .45cal ammo for months. And if you try to be ammo the prices have skyrocketed since the election, because the crazies are buying it up by the case. The ammo for my rifle has gun up a nickel a bullet since the fall. It's fucking scary.

Hopefully, the end result is that the Tea Party people eventually force out the moderate Republicans. At which point the moderate Republicans join forces with the moderate Democrats and form a more centralist party. Hopefully. Leaving the ultra-liberal Democrats and ultra-conservative Republicans to twist in the wind.
