I plan on spending today much like Ingrid - staying inside in my jambes, but I'm gonna clean this hovel I call home. Out to George's in the morning - he's working today and is likely to just crash out when he gets home, so I'll bug him tomorrow AM.
It was snowing in Amarillo the other day. SO JELLY LISA

        • Last night was pretty quiet at home. I worked and filled out some paperwork for an application to become an officially recognized consultant in the Business Development Bank of Canada's network (which would be ridiculously huge, as they help hundreds of businesses every year, which means I would be set for life in terms of consulting security - God I love socialism).

My eldest daughter went here with her friends last night: http://www.sixpines.mb.ca/haunt.html - I really wanted to go too, but she is at the "I'm embarrassed to be around my parents" phase so home I stayed while my wife and youngest daughter watched "Say Yes To the Dress" (which is why I elected to do paperwork, that show has been known to shrink penii into nothingness)

This morning, my wife had a root canal at 8am (I am beginning to think she is something of a masochist) so I tagged along and then we went out shopping afterwards for groceries and huge-assed pumpkins. This evening, we are pumpkin carving at my MiL's house and making pumpkin seeds (i.e. baking them in the oven with sea salt).

Tomorrow will be x-mas lights and possibly hanging up bikes in the garage rafters, and more consulting. Our big comic con is on this weekend so I am toying with the idea of going down later in the afternoon to see what is what. William Shatner is there today but I absolutely can't make it work schedule-wise

haha, we haven't even gotten snow yet and I live in the land of snow! They say we should have some on the ground by Monday, however.

            • Just got back from Chiller Theatre in Parsippany, and... am I ever disappoint.

Nothing worth taking any pics of. Plenty of stuff to buy, but nothing that really appealed to me. Tons of bootleg DVDs, steampunk stuff, and only a few folks dressed up. Also, not much in the way of zombie stuff or True Blood/Twilight junk. Maybe those fads are dying down?

Plus, no Angie Everhart or Elvira for me. Angie was in the back of one of the hallway conference rooms, sharing it with some wrestling divas, and had a line that stretched all the way outside (in the snow), then back inside, so fuck that.

Elvira was a no-show while I was there, while damn near every other celeb was out for the fans. Elvira wasn't showing up until 1:30 PM, and was charging $30 for an autograph, and $40 for a photo-op (you go into a special room to get a pic taken with her). $70 for Elvira? Much as I like her I had to pass. Shit, Dina Meyer's autograph and the pic I got with her cost less than half that, and I found that experience more enjoyable.

Also, driving to and from Parsippany was a fuckin' nightmare. Figures we'd get a nor'easter the day I had to drive up and down the state. Ugh. Might hold back on the convention going for awhile - went to a lot the past couple of years, might be time for a break.

                • If I remember correctly, this was Elvira's last public appearance. From now on it's going to be Cassandra (she's apparently tired of doing the full get-up for shows). I got to meet her when she came to Houston for Elvira's Haunted Hills (played at the Gay Film Festival). Somewhere, I have a movie poster signed by her.....

                  • Thanks, Lisa!

Yeah, that's how it was advertised, Howard (at least, it's her last East Coast appearance as Elvira), and good for you that you got the poster signed and got to meet her! I'd have liked to meet her too, but alas, wasn't meant to be.

                        • Is Nathan dressing up as well, Ingrid? He should match, maybe a punk rock drummer or something. And don't forget to sneer!

                          • Spent Friday and Saturday dealing with all the fucking insane females living at my mom's house (ladies, you've all read my horror stories. You know my use of insane is fair) and a toilet that needed a new coupling on it. Then I wake up and spend 45 minutes getting a clog from my shower. ugh.

                            • Yes, we know - your use of insane is indeed a fair shot. What happened?

Got an email from one of my closest friends from college - he told me his wife, who was only 50, just passed away suddenly in August! I was shocked - he didn't go into details, and I emailed him back to say how sorry I was, and asked him what happened. So I still don't know - but 50 is too damn young to check out.

                              • One thing I forgot to mention was I did catch a glimpse of Reb Brown AKA Captain America (70's TV movies) AKA Space Mutiny's Dave Ryder (AKA Slab Bulkhead, Bridge Largemeat, Punt Speedchunk, Butch Deadlift, Hold Bigflank, Splint Chesthair, Flint Ironstag, Bolt Vanderhuge, Thick McRunfast, Blast Hardcheese, Buff Drinklots, Crunch Slamchest, Fist Rockbone, Stump Beefknob, Smash Lampjaw, Punch Rockgroin, Buck Plankchest, Stump Junkman, Dirk Hardpec, Rip Steakface, Slate Slabrock, Crud Bonemeal, Brick Hardmeat, Rip Slagcheek, Punch Sideiron, Gristle McThornbody, Slate Fistcrunch, Buff Hardback, Bob Johnson (oh, wait...), Blast Thickneck, Crunch Buttsteak, Slab Squatthrust, Lump Beefbroth, Touch Rustrod, Beef Blastbody, Big McLargehuge, Smoke Manmuscle, Beat Punchmeat, Hack Blowfist, Roll Fizzlebeef in the MST3K version). Dude was decked out in a Captain America T-shirt, and he was HUGE. He could've bench-pressed the entire hotel with the guns he was sporting. And he had a big ass line of fans, and looked like he was having a ball, happily signing autographs and shooting the shit. Good for that dude, as well as Virgil from the WWF days, who also shot the breeze with fans.
