The Stereotype Thread

Inspired by the derailment currently taking place in the 'What did you just watch' thread.

I don't take offense at it, but I'm personally disappointed by the negative stereotype that 'frat boys' get. I'm a fraternity guy, and I spent my entire 4 years at college in a great fraternity that really helped me transition from my high school persona into my first adult persona.

Was there drinking? Yes. Quite a bit of it, actually. But I went to some dorm parties that were excessive as well.

Was there sex? Yes, probably the same amount as what took place in the dorms/brothels.

Did we take our academics seriously? Yes. We had to...we were still in college, after all. Those that didn't were kicked out/dropped out.

What you see in the movies is not necessarily accurate. Yes, I understand that some of you may have run into some 'frat boys' that pissed you off...didn't you run into any dormies that pissed you off?

All black people want to kill me for my phone
All Latinos just want to bother me for a job
All Asians have tiny penises, especially the women
All Jews want my money
All white people can't dance and like Republicanism
All Muslims want to blow up everything, even going so far as to discard their trash via demolition
All old people are definitely shitting themselves at any given moment
All kids are definitely shitting themselves at any given moment
All women want to have nasty, sweaty pornographic sex with me
All Southerners fuck their relatives/pets, some of which fulfill both roles
All gamers are fat racist misogynists

also don't sweat it about the frat shit it's just generational divides

I attended community college. And one that was once rated by Playboy to have the most hottest girls in attendance. Ahh, Moorpark College, how I miss thee.

In regards to stereotypes:

Matt, I get it. I feel the same way about how people confuse nerd stereotypes. Just because I would fuck Math and Science and D&D doesn't mean, I won't go out and drink with friends. Hell, I'll lovingly face fuck Math and Science and D&D while drinking.

But all Asian stereotypes are true. ALL OF THEM.

I think it's the mentality that I ran into. The "Frat Guys" I knew thought they were shit, were mostly assholes, were mostly stupid and displayed tendencies that you would see in sociopaths. Dormies could be the same way. And all of my problems I had with "Frat Guys" could be put on to any group that acted the same way. Did I know some cool "Frat Guys"? OF course, but that was the minority.

And I get how you could take it personally or take offense, and I apologize if that's you felt we were attacking you some way. Wasn't meant to be the case. I also know how it goes to be stereotyped. I mean people see my large hands and feet and automatically think I have a huge penis. I mean, they're not wrong, but it's still a stereotype.

I find it to be disappointing, actually. What I see portrayed on TV and in movies is pretty inaccurate. We partied hard, but not on a daily basis.

Honestly, it was the best 4 years of my life, and I still have quite a few fraternity brothers that are really good friends of mine.

I never did that either...although we DID have a really fun year when a whole ton of us were pretty much dating ONE ENTIRE SORORITY. We jokingly called three of our rooms the 'annex' for that sorority, as we'd usually have 10-15 of them over on any given night. Oddly enough, THAT was the year where I got my best grades...

THAT was a fun, FUN year.

And thanks, I think that all of you are really good people as well.
