I could sorta tell where things were cut out or changed. Dr Manhattan's decision to save humanity seemed way to quick of a change. Did the "masks" have super powers? They all seemed unnaturally strong. How did they learn to fight like that? Is this addressed in the book or am I nit-picking?

Only person with powers was Dr. Manhattan, I guess they all trained to kick ass... book never mentions.

In the book, Laurie mentions how she spent most of her youth in the gym training. I assume the same could be said of the rest of the masks. I think making them appear stronger than the regular joe was an acceptable concession.

Also, holy shit, this film was incredible. I can't believe Snyder pulled it off. There were a few deviations I didn't care for but overall I loved it. In fact, I think one place where it improves on the book is Rorschach's fate. It works well in the book but it really hit me in the film.

I don't get the criticism of Akerman, either. Putting aside the fact that I want to take her as another wife, I thought she did justice to the character. Especially considering Laurie is mostly a harpy with not much to do in the book.

I can see that. So the backlash begins already thanks to it "only" making 50+ million opening weekend. After reading some of the comments over at CHUD it makes me sad. I guess you just can't please some people.
