      You chose...poorly.

(it's just an indicator for those who have been lifelong devotees to the Carpenter film and are enthused by this repremakequel...though if anyone wishes to come forward with a tale of seduction ala The Red Shoe Diaries involving Brimley, a mead hall, and several barrels of confectioners sugar, then by all means)

It looks decent but, yeah, The Thing '82 is one of my favourite films and this looks too similar and too devoid of practical effects magic. As of now, though, I'm certainly curious.

The aspects that could potentially kill it is if they a) completely ruin the mystery of the creature; b) allow any character other than the dog to survive; and c) give the thing 'powers' it doesn't have come the start of Carpenter's film. One of the best aspects to the design in his version is that the lifeform was still learning to imitate over the course of the film. If its got all its skills honed to perfection and beyond by the close of play, then I'll call bullshit.

Brimley gets around pretty well for a guy with diabeetus.

Anyway, I'll probably see this because Winsteadboner and it pretty much looks like Dean Cundey shot it.

All of this. The original is in my top 3 of all time. This trailer was decent, but I'm hesitant.

You're just jealous that you didn't get Brimley'd.

I'm curious about it, don't get me wrong, but all the points Ben brought up are valid. And that's even with my love of MEW. I'll be there opening weekend, I just hope I'm not sorely disappointed.

                      Best case scenario, everyone dies.

And then The Thing moves to the Big Apple, gets an apartment on Yancy Street and hangs out with The Thing.
