I happen to think the Dawn of the Dead remake is his best flick (and this is coming from someone who practically punched a puppy upon the initial news of a Dawn remake being made - the original is one of my Top 5 all-time favorites). Watchmen is damn good too.

I think that '300' is damned fine for what it is. Would I rather see 'Gates of Fire' get made into a film? YES, but we won't get it...I've made peace with that. What we got is '300', a faithful adaptation of a comic book/graphic novel.

And I borderline LOVE 'Watchmen'. If your goal is to remain as faithful as possible to the source material and still make an entertaining film, then I don't know how you could really do a better job than what Snyder did. It isn't flawless, but what works REALLY works and makes up for most of the mistakes.

It's faithful for the most part. The things that he changed (the squid, Dr. Manhattan being 'blamed', the closing lines) work within the context of the film itself. The closing lines SHOULD have gone to Dr. Manhattan and Ozzy thematically, but I'm OK with them being transferred to Nite Owl and Laurie.

I'll agree that it's somewhat over-designed and masturbatory, but so what; it worked within the context of THAT FILM...at least, it did for me.

It'll be interesting to watch 'Sucker Punch' on blu ray and see just how misguided it actually is...

Sucker Punch was undone by a terrible script. Everything else was spot-on.

Watchmen works as a parody of the book. While I appreciate the film, I could almost do a Red Letter Media style takedown of it.
