I hated the dumb Nun shit from the second one but it has the best scene in all of flicks imo. The scene where they are talking to the kid (or parents it's been awhile) and there is a chair out of focus in the background. You see shit moving/changing but it never focuses on it. It's just in the back ground and out of focus. Fucking love it. The third is trash.

Still absolutely LOVE The Conjuring. I really enjoy the second one too, but I know it's a much weaker movie. Just a sucker for British setting in horror really. Three is...so, so, so bad.

Halloween movie #20 - The Conjuring.

Still the best in a series that shouldn't exist. Scares still work even after all these years. Another of Lesley's picks. I'm saving my 5 picks for next week. also next week on HBO MAX is Barbarian and Pearl is on digital (so those two will finish up our "watch 20 new movies").

Halloween Movie #19 - The Night House.

I love Rebecca Hall and this was solid. Some pretty inventive visuals and good jump scares. Don't remember seeing a trailer for this so basically went in blind. On HBO max.

Halloween Movie #18 - CHOOSE OR DIE - I thought this was going to be a choose your own adventure movie like that Black Mirror one but it wasn't. Instead it was a ridiculously stupid but fun movie about a cursed pc game from the 80s with some fun lore/exposition near the end that sets it up for a sequel I want now but know we will NEVER get. The idea is so dumb that I loved it. Bonus points for Robert Englund being the narrator of the video game.

Halloween movie #17 - The Forever Purge - didn't like hte first one, loved the second, hated the third, completely missed the fourth, and then watched this one (the 5th). 5 PURGE MOVIES. wtf? that being said, it wasn't terrible and it wasn't the high bar (NO GRILLO - NO DEAL) but it was completely ok. Writing was as a subtle as a shovel to the face but I will always dig seeing Josh Lucas and Will Patton showup in anything. Not too crazy on the kills this go around but seeing racists get their shit kicked in is always fun. I don't think I remember exactly what happened in the last movies but in this one the crazy Founding Fathers I guess took back the government, re-instated the purge, but people decide instead of just one day, it will BE EVERYDAY. It's silly because yeah, the whole idea that the govt would even sanction one day a year for murder and then INSTANTLY it would be over the next day was always silly in my mind but whatever, it's a dumb movie with some good people in it. You could do worse.

The Shining - nope. Still don't like it. Need a better adapation soon. Just not a fan but this was Lesley's pick and our first Halloween movie (out of 16 so far) that we've seen before.


The Deep House. Baby Jagger and girlfriend go diving to get some sick footage of a perfectly preserved house for their youtube channel. Things do not as planned. Not the worst found footage movie I've seen but the fact they shot the entire thing under water is nuts. It doesn't totally work but I respect the commitment. Some of those shots with their 4k drone are awesome. 85 mins, could do worse on a Sunday night, but worth checking out if only for the technical shit. It was not scary (2 jump scares...) but goddamn if i didn't feel claustrophobic the whole time. Plus
