Internet Security 2010 virus

Speaking of virus, our computer might have caught a bug. I downloaded 2 Video Conversion freeware last week (yup, no porn!) from CNET, and it's those that really wants to or will hijack your browser while installing with search options and such.

Cue up yesterday, as my wife, at her work, was like "hey, you have a Skype avatar now?" And I don't. Ever. And it's like half of my shirt, probably taken as I was typing a letter for a future job (more on that latter), so I know it's yesterday, in a 45-60 minuite range. Pretty sure the Webcam got hacked.

So, beside the usual FORMAT ALL THINGS, is there cue you guys can give me, as I'll tackle it tonight after work. I have AVG Free (any input on that one? I was thinking of changing for Avast or MSE) and Malwarebyte and Spybot to root out shit, and it usually does the work.

Any cue as to what to do or use, and in what order?

Bah, I don't thing it's a grave matter, but you, Rob and Mike and maybe otherrs are probably more warare of what's up on that level. I'm mainly inquiring as to what software I should get.

One anti-virus (I'm keen on switching to Avast or MSE from AVG...)
2 or 3 antimalware (I'm at Malwarebyte and Spybot. any better I should get?)
1 Firewall (I have none. Anyone I should get that's free and easy to use?)

I have Norton Antivirus and Eset Nod Antivirus running on my computer at home. I haven't had ANY issues (knock on wood) since I've had them both running.

To be honest Matt, I'm trying to stick with free, but I heard Bitdefender was pretty good.

First disconnect your webcam. SEcond, run spybot software. Third do a google search in regards to the programs you downloaded to see if this is a known issue and if there is an easy fix. Fourth, never download free video conversion software. Fifth, run a deep clean via your anti virus.

If that doesn't fix it, you're gonna have to format.

I have Internet Security. And when you purchase I believe you will get 3 licenses. I gave on to Ceej, one to Lesley and myself. Works well. Haven't had any issues since I've had it.

That's the one I was aiming for. I was looking for something not too expensive, ans it seems to fit the bill.
