  • I just finished Mass Effect I...

    - played as male Shepard, who was a colonist -> sole survivor soldier
    - killed Benezia witout having Liana in my party (my only regret in playing, as I have a feeling I missed some choice dialogue)
    - completed every mission I could find, visited every system, drove the Moon Buggy on every planet I could (I fucking loved driving that thing, as you could combine the instant acceleration with the jump jets to fucking do crazy loop-de-loops and jumps)
    - let Ashley the xenophobe biblebanger die defending my ass, but not before SAVING WREX!! I had maximum points in charm and was able to talk him down to the point where not even Ashley would kill him. Further on in the game, having Wrex was amazing. GIve that bitch heavy armour with a sheilds and medical upgrade and he never dies!!
    - let the crazy bug queen that you talk to after Benezia live
    - talk down the major who had the biotic cult so that he surrendered (gooo charm!!)
    - saved the council
    - asked that anderson get the seat on the council
    - ended the game with over 8 million credits, full spectre weapondry, sweet-assed heavy armour, level 9 upgrades for all weapons
    - did the "loyalty" quests for Garrus (kill mad doctor) and Talia's pilgramidge. It seemed like there should have been one for Wrex as well, but that never materialized despite the crazy asses story about the asari merc
    - talked Saren out of attacking me at the end. He then shot himself and became Mecca Saren and attacked me anyways, but yeah.

What a ride. In summary, Charm was the most useful skill next to heavy armor, vehicle driving was fun as long as you kept Racing Destruction Set on your mind, and the inventory system git easier the more you just converted shit to omni-gel :P

Love to see enthusiasm for great games though.

Yeah these games are pretty fucking great man. I used the Charm shit the second time through, and it made that Saren fight SO MUCH EASIER

Love the Charm option in that last fight.

So when/if I go to ME II, how much will the decisions I've made actually impact that second game? I killed every single Cerberus group possible!

If you did the side missions and shit as well, alot of callbacks. It's actually really cool. ME2 is MILES better than the first and I fucking LOVED the first one.

I agree with Rob. I don't care for RPGs at all but these games are really great. The decisions from the first game don't have a lot of major impact on the second but there are a lot of references, nods, and updates on repercussions peppered throughout the game. The way it's integrated into the opening is really neat.

And how could you let those fuckheads on the Council live?! I played uber-Paragon and still sacrificed those bastards.

I was trying to be as pro-alien as possible, as I thought it would help out my inter-species relations in the next game.

I started ME2 last night, but I will post my experiences in the ME2 thread...
