MAG aka Massive Action Game

If anyone is interested, they are giving away beta codes for MAG. People are already shitting on this game, but I figure it's worth a shot. Seems as though it controls closer to SOCOM than it does an FPS like CoD. Anyway, I just tried the website right now and it is still giving away beta codes.

I am intrigued, but I too hate the PS3 controller, especially for FPS's. I still need to beat Killzone 2 (which I loved), but the controller. I have some Amazon credit, so I dunno. White Knight Chronicles is next week.

Giant Bomb said they are working on a review right now. They were discussing a day one patch and jokingly said "less bad" but I don't know if that was a "ha ha you need a day one patch" joke or a "this game is donkey balls" joke. The trailers are brilliant though.

I played both betas, and after the first beta, I wasn't much of a fan, after the second beta, I was better so I didn't hate it. I started to like it but not enough to make me buy it at launch. The controls are similar to SOCOM, you don't want to run and gun. Took me a while to figure everything out, although I read that there is a Tutorial mode so that may help. The game is not very pretty. A mic is probably a must, or at least make sure you are listening for and following your objectives, they can change quickly if the other team is doing well.

I don't know, I have MW2 (which I'm actually getting a little tired of surprisingly), so I figure I don't need this game, but if I can get it cheap or see some good reviews I can be swayed to get it.

Oh, and you can only join 1 PMC, either VALOR, RAVEN, or S.V.E.R., so if you want to party up with friends, you all need to join the same one or you are shit out of luck until you can prestige or whatever they are calling it and you can create a new character with a new PMC alliance.

And the only way to play this is with your friends. This isn't gonna be a "let me hop in and do my own thing" game.

So I rented this game and have played it for almost a week. I must say, I'm a fan now. I've only played with randoms, but most people I play with seem to play as a team which is nice. I still don't think the game is worth $60 but damn, I do like it now. Feels really good to win the huge 128 and 256 game modes. Think I might pick this up if I can get it cheap.
