DC Universe Figures

These are the best action figures on the market right now, and it's about fuckin time. Marvel had been beasting for years with the Marvel Legends line, but once Hasbro took over, things have never been the same. DC Direct did a great job, but poor articulation and a higher cost hurt their line (not to mention all the different Superman/Batman figures). Mattel had always just made shit (Batman Begins and Superman Returns anyone?), but they finally got thier act together with the DC Superhero figures of last year. Once they got the rights to the entire DC Universe, it was fucking on! The 4 Horsemen sculpts are fantastic, the articulation is great (between DC DIrect and Marvel Legends) and the paint jobs have been excellent for a mass market line.

Series 3 is due out soon, with a huge Solomon Grundy build-a-figure. And Green Lantern. Hells yeah, I say!

Series 1 Batman.

I love the classic color scheme, as I have a darker Batman already.

Series 1 Demon.

This figure looks badass, and he's much larger than the other figures in the line.

Series 1 Orion.

He's pretty cool, as long as he's in his space harness thingy. He looks really bland without it. He's being re-released in a 2-pack with Lightray, only his helmet will be removable on the new figure.

Mr. Mxpleticvowkaspdkefj*kwdf?"wdjwke has not come out yet, but I wouldn't be suprised to see him somewhere down the line.

Series 1 Penguin.

He's the weakest in series 1, if you ask me. Not as much articulation as the other's, and his face doesn't really match his neck color. He comes with an open umbrella with a little gatling gun attached to it, which can be removed.

Series 1 Red Tornado.

I realy like this toy. He looks cool, and comes with little whirlwind powers that attach to his hands. If you look at what Mattel is doing, it seems to me that they are trying to re-do all the figures from the old Super Powers line, which is just totally awesome.

Series 1 Collect-n-Connect figure, Rex Mason, the Element Man.

He also goes by Metamorpho, and I wasn't too familiar with him until I watched all the Justice League catoons. He's a cool build-a-figure, but he's no larger than anyone else in the wave. The cool thing about him is he comes with 2 alternate hands and an alternate "loaf" leg. Once again, the sculpt and paint are both top notch.

IT's just too bad that DC sucks. Minus a few properties. Like Plastic Man. He's awesome.

Mattel likes to re-use the generic body that you see on Batman. Tornado and Orion all share it with Bats, but it still looks good. The body is used a lot in series 2. This kinda thing would normally bug me, but the sculpts and paint are so good, and the body works pretty well with the figures it's used on, I really don't mind.

Series 2 Aquaman.

Best Aquaman ever! A great face sculpt along with the sculpted scales and paint make this figure just too cool. Plus he comes with his trident, and he's old school Aqua, none of that beared, fake hand bullshit.
