Just cracked that bottle of Macallan Cask Strength I got for the birthday. The label says they recommend cutting it with a little water to bring out all the flavor nuances. I normally don't bother with that, but after a few sips, I'm beginning to think that good as this stuff is (and it is really, really good), it's kind of. . . dense may be the right word. So water may be the way to go. Anyone got any recommendations on the kind/brand to use for this purpose?

BTW, I've smoked a couple stoges w/ the Macallan Fine Oak 10 Year Old by my side. That stuff's fucking delicious! It tastes a lot like The Balvenie Doublewood, but doesn't have the same level of burn, which loses it a few points. BUt it's all vanilla and dried fruit, with some subdued spice. Just marvelous. I like it even better than the Macallan 12 Year Old.

While I never felt the need to dilute my whiskey (being the purist alcoholic that I am...), you might be served by just using some Pellegrino water. While not super fizzy like soda water, it adds just enough fizz to make things interesting, unlike plain water.

And since you're local, they have 2 bottles for $3 at Genuardi's!
