  • Breaking Bad - Season Two

And Season Two started this week. Walt continues his badass streak. I wonder, though, if that will change once he realizes it's not crazy Tuco but a much bigger threat that's following him around. I mean, I doubt the inept DEA guys will connect the dots but the Mexican cartel guys are creepy and we haven't even seen them yet!

One thing, though- I don't think I missed anything so what's the deal with the burned stuffed animal in the pool at the beginning? Something we'll see later?

It will all be revealed by the end of the season, stay tuned.

I assume they're not taking any breaks so by my count season three will start airing in seven weeks. I think that puts it at February 16.

It occurs to me that over the course of the show so far they've only cooked maybe three or four batches of meth. I figured it was going to be meth-a-palooza.

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite shows ever. Walt is amazing. I'm even starting to come around to Hank a little bit. The showdown at Tuco's uncles place was tense as hell. Thursday is the best day of the week right now because I wake up to two episodes of this show.

It's been a while since I've watched it, but isn't the big reason for that being that Walt wants to cook one HUGE fucking batch and cash out?

Yeah, he comes to that realization after he sees Tuco stomp No-Doz's face in for no good reason. This week was the episode where he's in the hospital because of his "disassociative episode" and there was a scene where he was doing the math again. I'm pulling for him to hit the target number soon but since we're running up to season four I guess it doesn't happen that fast for the poor guy.

Hearing reactions from people watching Breaking Bad for the first time is nearly as good as watching it for the first time.

Oh man, am I looking forward to some of your reactions later, grave...

I feel like I'm starting every post about this show with "HOLY SHIT" but...HOLY SHIT. The episode "Down" was A-MAZING. When Walt and Skylar finally confronted each other I had a huge knot in my stomach. And then the fight with Jesse right after? Oh, man.

And the way Skylar just started taking off without explanation, that's exactly what my wife would do in that situation. Infuriating.

I need to find a .mp3 of "Negro y Azul" because that's my jam. So awesome they did one of those mariachi murder ballads or whatever they call that genre. I was so pumped to see TREJO was going to be the Mexican cartel guy...then I saw the tortoise. Holy shit.

And the episode with the ATM machine was just plain fucked up and depressing. I was really impressed with how Jesse handled the kid.

That song is awesome. Wouldn't mind it on Rock Band.

YES. Someone on Rock Band Network needs to make it happen.

This show is incredible. I love the way they just let things play out when other shows would just be on to the next thing. I think it's because of that decision that the scene with results of Walt's PET scan becomes such a cathartic moment. That white spot hung over the brief victory with the huge batch of product, lessening it a little, and then they just get CRUSHED with the dead battery and exploded genny. See/hearing the good news at the end was such a relief. I hope there's a scene where Walt tells Jesse about it next week.

I'm not TV expert or anything but it seems to me this show owes a lot to The Sopranos in the way it tells the story. Most people remember the Sopranos for the fucked up kills and crazy goombah speak but it did a really good job of letting the story simmer and linger on the character moments. I'd put Breaking Bad right up there with that show.

Oh, and Bob Odenkirk is great as the dirtbag lawyer.

I totally forgot about Odenkirk. He's outstanding.
