Soooo.... RIGGED. Fucking rigged. That had to be. Tell me honestly that didn't really happen! I can't believe those old rags that look like a pile of crap you'd dust with just beat Mondo's collection. I honestly would have rather had Andy win over Gretchen - and it's not just because I couldn't stand her. It's because aside from her first and third wins, her clothes are sloppy, badly made, and ugly.

Poor Mondo.

Oh, and one thing I'll actually say in defense of Gretchen - can you believe that bullshit at the reunion?? That Ivy and April had the nerve to sell out Gretchen and call her a bitch on national TV? If that ain't irony - those two calling someone else a bitch (even though she is). And that the guy that Gretchen basically tormented all season long - Michael Costello - was the first one to defend her, followed by Mondo? Amazing. I actually felt bad for her.

Off to TWoP to check out the outrage. I saw the first handful of posts - that's not a happy bunch over there. Project Rungay should be interesting too.

Michael Costello was classy as hell during the reunion portion, and I also agree that Gretchen redeemed herself somewhat. I don't HATE her anymore.

But yeah, Mondo was the clear winner. My thoughts:
Gretchen's collection: it wasn't baaaaaaad, just unremarkable. There were some individual elements here and there that were really sharp, though. The prints and the colors got repetitive and it all kinda blended together after a while. Current fashion? I call bullshit on that...Andy's collection looked more 'current' than hers.

Andy's collection: Grey. Grey. Green. Grey and green. Grey. They were nice but fell into the same pattern that hindered Gretchen's collection. The goofy headpieces really didn't help at all. Again, there were some really nice outfits in there, including 2 that my wife REALLY wanted for her own collection.

Mondo's collection: Subdued for Mondo but still MONDO. Varied and cohesive from beginning to end without being too cartoonish. I thought that he was the clear winner.

Other thoughts:
WTF was Jessica Simpson on?
Ivy is still a powerbitch, and she proved it in the reunion.
GREAT argument between the judges, especially Heidi and Michael.
Michael likes salt...alrighty then.
Those fake 'commercials' for the fairy jobmother were annoying and unfunny as hell.

Overall, it was a solidly entertaining season. The top 4 should have solid fashion careers ahead of them.

Basic theme right now at TWoP is outrage - pure and simple. Which - yeah, there's always a fair amount of foot stomping and people swearing they'll never watch again after every reality TV finale. But this seems particularly raw. Plus, everyone finds it hard to believe that Heidi Klum and Jessica Simpson were the voices of reason last night.

Project Rungay blog is up, and it is a WHOPPER! Despite poor Mondo being robbed, this is probably their best blog ever. I mean, they don't hold back, they're not ass-kissers to the show. It's glorious!:

So all of this must have been what Tim Gunn was hinting around about, pre-season, when he basically said that the judges must have been smoking crack. Okay, he didn't say exactly that, but I believe his quote was "the judging was questionable, and I disagreed with a lot of it."

And since Nina made such a big deal insisting how SHE'D wear Gretchen's rags, I'd say it's her turn to get her ass out in public wearing some horrible Mandee's looking thing that the Season 8 "winner" designed!
