First time I've seen him call it Baytown, he used to say he was from Goose Creek, which is technically accurate but hasn't been called that in a long long time."Fuck Rob. Also, he has a podcast called Podcaust. Edgy Holocaust humor lulz indeed." - The Faraci

I can't get over this new Maxwell House campaign that is totally based around "oh look a way to make a good cup of coffee that I'm not totally familiar with so it must be dumb so let's just make shitty coffee in a lazy and easy fashion GO MURICA" that is playing all the fucking time. I just fucking laugh at it. HEY OUR COFFEE IS BAD BUT AT LEAST YOU DONT HAVE TO PUT THE SLIGHTEST BIT OF EFFORT INTO ANYTHING.

Fuck this commercial and the horse it rode in on. So are we to assume all disabled people who use the services of others to assist in daily living are as miserable and hopeless as they portray this women to be. Way to completely stereotype a large population of people who had no choice but to resort to such a deplorable solution.

I agree with Phedg that the one commercial he showed does sort of paint all disabled folks who need assistance, and had no choice in being in the situation they are in, as being uniformly miserable. That's wrong on so many levels.
However, heavy-handed though it may be on the execution, the underlying message in these anti-smoking commercials is that if these folks would have quit or never started puffing in the first place, those situations would likely never have happened. As the son, brother, grandson and friend of folks who smoked, I've seen first hand what damage smoking does to one's body. Not just the lungs, but the heart, circulatory system, teeth, tongue, breath (Jen was the first girlfriend I ever kissed who didn't smell/taste like an ashtray), etc. gets affected, and that damage is both short- and long-term. These commercials aren't really that far off from what I experienced.
Again, it IS a matter of personal choice. Watching my dad and grandmother have all sorts of health problems, even when I was a kid, due to blowing through packs of smokes, convinced me not to bother with it. But that was MY family. Your mileage and results may vary, obviously, and if you smoke and are doing great, Mazel Tov, more power to you. If you quit or are trying to quit, awesome! If you never tried smoking, terrific! Don't start!
