Whither Blockbuster... at long last?

Looks like a liquidation video/DVD sale is on it's way at my local Blockbuster, and just in time for Christmas, too!

Didn't they just say they were looking to file bankruptcy? They're doomed no matter what they do. Especially now that Netflix is now on everything Apple and they're not bitches about streaming to anything/everything... unlike Hulu.

Blockbuster was yanked off of the NYSE because their stock went below $1.00 a share.

They owe more money than they can make in 2010/2011. Their major stockholders have pressured them into selling off stores and dumping locations with soon-to-expire leases. Basically, they're going to eliminate 80% of stores by the first of November. If that doesn't work, they'll close forever.

Well, the company and their board have been having nasty fights over this issue since March.

At one point, the Board voted to eliminate the CEO...he kept his job by one vote. They vote again in October on Chapter 7 and firing him again.

B&N could end up having more shares bought by Gamestop. That would be such a fucked up turn of events that says so much about this country.
