What TV should CJ get?

Ok so as mentioned on the last podcast I am looking to buy a HDTV. My price limit is $999.00. I would like something at least 37" but i would like something bigger. I am not sure about plasma with the burn in and ghosting stuff but if you want to make a case for it and talk me into it feel free. Any opinions on brands would be cool. but what would you guys get for 1k?

Ask Corey. I would personally go with an LCD. But I am no expert. By far. I also like toshiba, but as I said.....

Not a fan of the plasma. I like Toshiba and Samsung...Go with a LCD or DLP, my opinion would be what I have a Toshiba DLP. Unlike a LCD and Plasma when the color begins to fade you can just replace the bulbs for a DLP. Prices are dropping right now on all tv's as everyone is making way for the new SED.

Yes, was suppose to be out by x-mas last year but was pushed back for summer this year.... suppose to be very quick like a CRT with real life color's that are going to make a producer's job very hard when it comes to low lighting as you will be able to see every shade of black in gray on a SED...... again, this is only what I read and I'm no Tv expert.

oh man... sed... that tv was going to be the killer of all tvs. according to the wiki the stats were:

50,000:1 contrast ratio. According to IGN at the 2006 CES show, Toshiba's final versions of SEDs will ship with a contrast ratio of 100,000:1.
0.2 milliseconds response time.
Brightness of 450 cd/m².

that's fucking insane. probably why we as consumers will never get the chance to own it, especially since it's been noted that it wasn't made for the consumer market.

to give you an idea of how insane that is, let's compare that to my tv, a sharp aquos model #lc52d92u, which ranges from $1979 to $3899:

dynamic contrast ratio: 15000:1
native contrast ratio: 3000:1
response time: 4ms
brightness: 450 cd/m(squared)

also, currently there are tvs in production that exceeds 1080p. again, not available to consumers. sad. if anything cj, check out avforums for visualphiles' reviews on tvs. i personally like the aquos lcd tvs though. not sure if you could get anything bigger than a 27" with a budget of $1k.

Well that sucks ass.... but I remember when plasma came out and was super expensive maybe in 5 years we can afford an SED but but that time there will be another new version coming out.

dude, by the time sed is available for consumers, 1080p will be our 480p now. hahaha. high def? fuck that! we have super-kick-ass def. you could just see pores; we can fucking see INTO pores! beat that '00s! hahaha. porn will be extinct because of the high definition and resolution possible.
