It doesn't change the fact that the trap is shit hockey. Montreal played it for years and everyone hated it. Teams have to draft and develop their players better. Hell, we have a ofensive team and Eric Cole led with 35 goals this year.... it's just that the Penguins have 3 top centers and one great wingman in Neal.
As for the attendence, if you believe the NHL numbers, you also probably think Santa Claus is real. 12 000? Remember that the NHL owns the team, and will find every single reason to show it's team into the light. Bettman doesn't want to move the team, for it will prove that his retarded southern expension was a financial disaster. Having seen several games at Phoenix, including ones with high profile stars like Crosby and Ovechkin, 6000 is stretching it. A lot. People there have 4 clubs in 4 spots, and that without college sport.
An average game in Glendale:
That's apparently 6000 people. People have estimated that on site it was more like 3-4000... And remember that those deals on tickets have these tickets offered at discount or ridiculous prices. Where in the NFL do you have a 4 seater + free parking + food for 99$? And not in the bleachers???? Hell, a lot of those season tickets above are being traded for premium seats below so it looks good on camera!
Look, TSN, Sportsnet, ESPN all talked and laughed about the bullshit attendence numbers the NHL gives to the financially weaker franchises, like it did to Atlanta, so that 12000+ numbers might be for those soldout playoff games...
It just ain't working in Phoenix.
