My all time favorite drummer from my all time favorite band. Jen's right - I'm gutted by this.
Seems he passed on Tuesday and we're just finding out today. After the tragedy he went through years back with his first daughter and wife, the poor guy was finally living the life he wanted with his second wife and kid and it just wasn't long enough. I feel awful for them, for Geddy and Alex, and Neil's parents.
His lyrics meant a lot to me, Rush's music formed the bulk of the soundtrack to my life, and talent like his comes along once in a lifetime.
RIP, Professor, and thanks from this real life Analog Kid.
Kobe shit had me all fucked up yesterday. The NBA is the only sport I care about, and I've been obsessive with it since I was like 9 or 10. I was slightly too young to fully grasp Jordan during his initial run leading up to breaking into the Finals, but I was there for all of Kobe. And seeing him change into this weird obsessive full time dad and mentor to new players was really cool. I got complicated feelings as well because of the Colorado shit too. Then his daughter and then another family with their kid as well as the pilots? What a mess.
That sucks. Everyone is talking about the fog, I even saw an eyewitness interview that said once the helicopter got up into the hills it vanished in the fog but by the sound he could tell something was very wrong.
