Sir Michael Caine will do to Halls Cough Drops what the late Michael Gough did for Diet Coke if the Movie Moan crew has their way! Because The Dark Knight Rises is starved for attention as you all know.

Captain Ed Hocken reviews the British sci-fi/horror/comedy Attack of the Block to much praise, while keeping details vague (because there are some movies even we don't want to give away!) Meanwhile, Queen Kristina and Jamie rip the shit out of Cowboys & Aliens and praise Rise of the Planet of the Apes to no end. Yes, spoilers on both and yes, Jamie acknowledges he was dead wrong labeling the Apes prequel the flop of the summer. Good to wrong sometimes!

In the week of the news, the group focuses on two big first-looks for forthcoming superhero epics: Henry Cavill as Superman in The Man of Steel and Anne Hathaway as Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises. Lots of joking at the expense of fandom and their over-analyzing and nit-pickiness ensue.

Apologies for any audio issues, folks. The British Gentleman agent Phil Gee should be back next week from his (well-deserved) vacation and we're working with what we've got. Hope you enjoy nonetheless!

            Queen Kristina said it best:

"When he wasn't a bankable star, he was very, very creative and he was putting all these sort of 'out there' movies, and now that he’s become successful, he's become lazy. And the only person who I can think of to compare him to now is he’s become George Lucas. He's become that guy who has all the money in the world, has all the options in the world...and he decides to make shit."

Harsh words from her Majesty and remember this is someone who generally loves Johnny Depp! But can anyone really say she's wrong?

Elsewhere on this week's Movie Moan podcast, Jamie briefly reviews Final Destination 5 (and gives away the ending, so beware spoiler-sensitive listeners!) and 30 Minutes or Less and Ed gives his quick thoughts on The Devil's Double.

In the week of news, the gang groans at the notion of Austin Powers 4 happening (and contemplate Wayne's World 3 and how Mike Myers could end up on network television in five years), Disney pulling the plug on The Lone Ranger (Hence why the above-quote comparing Johnny Depp to a certain Star Wars creator), Stephen King's The Stand being turned into a movie trilogy and whether or not a Batman/Superman movie will ever make it to the big screen.

Phil Gee has returned to the Movie Moan podcast after a month absence but to make up for it, he has returned with a complete breakdown of his visit to Empire magazine's 'Big Screen' event, essentially the UK version of the San Diego Comic-Con.

Tonight he gives you in-depth descriptions of exclusive footage he saw from the next 12 month's worth of films including 'Total Recall', 'Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1', Puss In Boots', 'Contagion', 'In Time', 'Titanic 3D', 'Anonymous', and 'Real Steel'.

He also saw the Comic-Con footage from 'The Amazing Spider-man' which included the first look at the Lizard and provides a blow by blow account of that.

Finally, Phil was at the European premiere of 'Conan The Barbarian 3D' last weekend and, not surprisingly, it totally sucked. Trust us folks, Phil has never had a lower opinion of a film than this one. Just wait and see what score he gives it at the end.

Apologies to such sleeper hits as 'Cowboys And Aliens' and 'Conan The Barbarian 3D' ('sleepers' as in people fell asleep during them and 'hits' as in what we wanted to do to the people who made them) but the Movie Moan crew have decided to close the book on the Summer 2011 blockbuster season.

So you know what that means? It's results time!

Back in April, Kristina, Jamie and Phil placed their bets on the specific domestic box office grosses of the Summer's heavy hitters (and 'Bad Teacher' for some reason) and on this show, the tallies are calculated and we see who is the winner. You may be very surprised by the result. We certainly were.

But it's not just Judgement Day for us. We paid attention to the predictions you made in the comments section and have picked a lucky web winner for each film as well (though the only prize you win is our respect). Enough stalling; let battle commence!

Medical disclaimer: If, by the end of this show, you end up shouting "turn the machines back on, TURN THE MACHINES BACK ON" to a large room of people, there is nothing wrong with you. You just didn't do very well this year.

On this week's show, you can forget that 'AtThe Movie With Siskel & Ebert' ever ended. Since our show is nothing but wall to wall reviews, we do our best to take you back in time to a simpler place where people actually cared what critics had to say about films and replicate those classic shows courtesy of Gene and Roger.

Will it be thumbs up or thumbs down to 'Contagion', 'Drive', and 'Warrior'? Which of the those three will be chosen by Ed and Jamie as the best film of the year so far?

Plus, Phil reviews the much anticipated film adaptation of 'Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy' a good three months before it hits US theatres.

Finally, Phil and Ed's 'video pick of the week' is the awesome documentary 'Best Worst Movie', which takes the dumbest premise possible and turns it into one of the best films you will ever see about the fleeting and seducing power of fame.

It's a course in 'Acting Shatner 101' as Jamie takes us through the bounty of emotions and expressions Taylor Lautner blesses us with in his sure to be nominated performance in 'Abduction'.

As well as that, Phil belatedly reviews 'Warrior', we give our thoughts on the new trailers for 'J. Edgar' and 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo', lambaste the recent marketing for 'The Muppets', and entertain the notion of a 'Scarface' remake (of a remake).

Finally, it's the welcome return of 'the moan of the week' and we take a look at the precusor to 'Drive', Michael Mann's 'Thief'.

This is the first time Phil has heard the news but it adds credence to his theory that, thanks to the success of 'The Lion King 3D', Disney are going to be re-releasing a lot more of their classic animated films in the same format over the next few years. Jamie, Ed and Kristina throw in their two cents, the latter having revisited her favorite film of all time this week.

Plus, we bemoan the latest studio strategy of DVD/Blu Ray double dipping as 'Transformers: Dark Of The Moon' is released completely bare bones with the promise that the 'proper' version will be on the way soon. We also decide which director of those short-listed is best suited to bring the new version of 'The Twilight Zone' to the silver screen.

Finally, Kristina punishes the rest of us on 'the moan of the week' by choosing 'The Ballad Of Jack And Rose' for us to discuss. Phil and Jamie don't mince words about it.

The stakes are sky high in Paul WS Anderson's visionary remake of 'The Three Musketeers'. Never mind that England and France are poised for war or that Cardinal Richelieu wants to dethrone the king; the whole film is about the honour of one horse. Phil will tell you all about in his review of this hilariously bad (but never boring) film.

Meanwhile, we thought there might be hope for seemingly pointless prequels and remakes thanks to quality films like 'Rise Of The Apes' but Jamie is here to tells that 'The Thing' does not deserve to join their company.

In the news, Patty Johnson IS directing 'Thor 2', the trailer for 'The Avengers'is dissected, Disney's 'The Long Ranger' rises from the grave like the unholy corpse of a project it is, and apparently it's 'A Good Day To Die Hard'.

We also have a little conversation on the latest wacky way major studios are shortening the window between theatrical and home media release of their films (but it's really just an excuse to talk about how cool VHS was).

Finally, Jamie punishes us all with his 'moan of the week', the John Landis car wreck 'Into The Night'. Next time, don't pick a film at random sir.

We're not even trying with our titles anymore, but at least it tells you what this week's show is about. The main focus of this show is a mammoth 40 minute ode to Tim Curry's performance in Ridley Scott's 'Legend', one of the greatest villain performance in cinema history, in my humble estimation. Oh sure, we talk about the rest of the film as well. It's our 'moan of the week'.

In the news, we're not exactly bursting with excitement over the new trailer for 'Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows', we have one more bash at the folly of adapting 'Akira' into a live action film, and are more than a little intrigued by the latest Bond 23 rumours that will 007 sporting a beard and going on his usual 'save the world' travelogue on a restricted budget.

The deluge of unnecessary sequels that is the current Hollywood trend has even spread to our own podcast this week. We're so swamped talking about unoriginal films that we don't have time for our usual 'moan of the week'.

However, Phil brings you his exclusive (in only that you Yanks don't get to see it till December for some reason) review of Steven Spielberg's 'The Adventures Of Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn'.

The official Movie Moan countdown to Bond 23 (now officially titled 'Skyfall') begins and Phil and Jamie couldn't be happier. Ridley Scott's return to 'Blade Runner' for an official sequel is the only reason we would want to talk about it. The sequel to 'X-Men: First Class' attempts to join the 'G.I.Joe: Retaliation' school of follow ups to first films that didn't do very well at the box office. We discuss the new trailers for 'Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol' and '21 Jump Street' (with divisive opinions all around).

Finally, the sequel to 'Rise Of The Apes' is officially on the way. No doubt, the official title will be 'Before The Planet Of The Apes' or 'Damn Dirty Apes' or 'Virus Of The Apes' or 'Wrath Of The Apes' or 'Apes II: Banana Boogaloo' or....

We recorded this show on Sunday November 13th 2011.

November 13th was the day we learned just how little Johnny Depp cares about his profession anymore. November 13th was the day we found out the depths to which he had sunk. November 13th was the day Queen Kristina give him the finger once and for all. But to find out why, you'll just have to watch.

On the menu this week, Phil backs up Jamie to review 'Immortals' (which isn't as ungodly as you might imagine). But Jamie is totally on his own to review 'J.Edgar' and 'Jack And Jill'.

In the news, Ratner and Murphy are out while Graser and Crystal are in to produce and host the Oscars but will it make a shread of difference? Meanwhile, we give our thoughts on the trailer for 'Snow White: Fuck Yeah!', or 'Snow White And The Huntman' to you.

Finally, the moan of the week is another winner from Kristina; 'Brothers' from 2009.
