The demand for it will always be there, it's human nature. If it were readily available, regulated by the state/federal government, and certified as being SAFE, the customers wouldn't have a need to partake of the exploited women and children that clutter the streets. Make sure that the women/men who sign up to be prostitutes are mentally well-adjusted, disease/drug free, and are not being exploited. The business model for the criminals would evaporate overnight...their only market would be the REALLY offensive stuff: children.

More than anything, I'd just like to see the money stop going to the criminals. We'll never EVER be able to curb the demand for drugs and sex...it's a losing battle, and the absurdity of the battle is becoming more and more apparent as time goes on. Look at all of the money we devote to anti-drug and anti-prostitution laws and enforcement. It's ridiculous.

And I'm NOT promoting the legalization of prostitution under the pretense that it's a 'victimless crime'. Good GOD, I know that that's not the case. While I have no doubt that there is probably a decent percentage of sex workers who have entered that profession as a matter of 'choice', the vast majority of sex workers are basically slaves to a criminal element that grabs them at a young age, gets them addicted to drugs, and forces them to turn tricks until they are used up. I want to end that exploitation of children and put the trade firmly in the hands of those people who want to do it BY CHOICE.
