Yeah, but you're only - what? - 23? I can see where you may not have many options aside from the 90s just yet!

LOL, yes, very true. I remember almost nothing of the 80s, and while I've had some good memories in the Aughts, I have to say that of the two complete decades that I've lived through, the 90s take the cake.

Obviously this holds less weight than if my Dad (who is over 85) were to say the 90s were his favorite.

Oh, come on, you know your dad probably had a great time moshing and crowd surfing during Pearl Jam's first tour!

Oh, I'm sure, but I was too young to remember that

Space Invaders, Asteroids, Missle Command, Pitfall, etc. at home. And Berzerk, Pac Man, Dig Dug, Vanguard, battlezone and my personal favorite, Tempest in the arcades. I guess mention must be made of Donkey Kong, Defender and Dragon's Lair, as well, although I didn't particularly care for them (mainly because I sucked at all of them).

I also figured out how to upload photos, so as soon as I get my digital camera back from the relative who borrowed it this weekend, pix of "The Jacket" WILL be posted.
Shit! I think my brother and I had all of those games for the 2600. I also used to hit the arcades, especially Coin Castle in Seaside, and wile away the hours playing my favorite games - Battlezone, Asteroids, Berzerk, Tempest (as a Rush fan, this was a must), Centipede, and eventually moving up to StarBlade among others.

And you gotta post the Jacket, Ig!

              • I put on my Iron maiden "Killers" album cover T shirt today. My 4 yr old says he thinks it's cool. We pile into the car to drive to the grocery store, and on the way, I realize "Killers" is actually cued up in my tape deck. I ask if he wants to hear it, and he enthusiastically says "Yes!" We make it through "The Ides of March" and "Wrathchild" by the time we get to the store. On the way out, he says, :"Daddy? Can we listen to some more of the Eddie record?" (He wanted to know what the white haired, axe wielding guy on the cover's name was, you see). * Sniff! * I'm so fuckin' happy right now. . .
I like the way the line runs up the back of the stocking.

'Wrathchild', 'Murders in the Rue Morgue', 'Another Life', and 'Killers' are simply AWESOME songs.

You need to play 'Number of the Beast' and 'Piece of Mind' for you little guy, Iggy. It'll change him...mold him...convert him into all that young men should be.

                      • Iggy: I've got some other recommendations for you to play your son.
                        Rainbow 'Rising'
Rainbow 'Long Live Rock n Roll'
                        Black Sabbath 'Heaven and Hell'
                        Black Sabbath 'The Mob Rules'
                        Dio 'Holy Diver'
                        Dio 'The Last in Line'

                        You know why.

He also tried hot sauce in the stew I made for dinner that night. Didn't care for it, but nor did he panic or cry when the burn hit him, but calmly waited for me to get the bread & milk.

So very fucking proud. . .

BTW, RIP Ronnie James Dio, according to the radio this AM. I was never a big fan, but ya gotta give respect where it's due. The man's an icon of metal. And he did invent the devil horns thing. They don't make 'em like him any more. . . .

                            • Between the above, and him smashing his crotch sliding down a piece of playground equipment on my watch a few weeks ago (Important Man's Life Lesson Learned: Ya gotta protect those, son. . . .), all he needs now is the Birds & the Bees and the talk about drinking, and he's set.

Considering how bad I was at sports as a kid, that's all I got anyway.

                              • How's his knowledge of cigars, Ig? Not that he's smoking already ("No puffing 'til 18, sport!"), but does he know the difference between a Cohiba from a Graycliff, for example?

Kid does that, he'll be rocking the quiet cool by the time he hits Second Grade.
