That is very true. He's pretty bad ass. My favorite story about him is when he was NYC Police Commish (one of the first to genuinely reform the corrupt department) and Jacob Riis' "How The Other Half Lives" came out, after reading it, Roosevelt went down to Riis' office, he was out. Riis and Roosevelt then teamed up to fight crime on Mulberry Street on the LES for the next two years. I shit you not, they walked beats together. That's pretty hardcore. The KKK and the Anti-Immigrant movement came to its National Peak under Wilson's watch. Pinning it on Wilson is a little slap-dash. These were problems that had been building for decades prior.
