I'd love it if this film takes the #2 spot for the summer - no way it'll beat the last Harry Potter flick, but it has a decent shot of beating TF3 and Cars 2, no?

I don't think so. No matter HOW good it is, I think that audience fatigue with 'oh God another fucking superhero flick?' is going to set in. I certainly hope that I'm wrong with that, but I can kinda sense it. GL shitting the bed didn't help matters.

I think it's virtually a lock on:
1. HP7.2
2. TF3
3. Larry the Cable Guy destroys the world
4. Hangover 2
5. Fast 5

From there, it's anyone's guess.

I could see TF3 "under perform" with how many people hated part 2, even if they enjoyed 1, and 3D is pretty much dead.

Not with the release date it has, at least domestically. And internationally, they can always view it in the usual way of "hahahaha stupid yanks done goof'd" or "I'm glad that shit isn't happening to us for once."

Yeah...this last second campaign/push for demanding theaters play it in 3D for its first few weeks in theaters and throwing it to Tuesday night to me suggests a lack of confidence on their end.

It's gonna made mad, retard money. But nowhere close to Revenge of the Fallen.
