Here's where I buck the trend: I borderline loved NO TIME TO DIE. The plotting all worked for me in the broad strokes, only falling down here and there in the details...nothing to take me out of the film. I'll avoid spoilers but I'll just say that the film establishes a very strong overall story and character arc for the Craig version of Bond. Seen as a whole, I think that the entire series is a triumph. Individually, I think NTTD is just a step below CR in terms of quality. Essentially, the series began and ended on the high notes, and that's awesome. Indeed, for me, NTTD was so good that it elevated SPECTRE...NTTD had to essentially pick up the pieces established in SP and do something with them...in my opinion, this was one of the best possible results.
The wife loved it too.Originally posted by MartinWho the fuck is Kellan Lutz?Originally posted by gravediggerBasically what I'm saying is that, based on what I've watched so far, we should all listen to Matt more often.Originally posted by MartinAnd who the FUCK is Peaches Geldof?

Good. Not great.
It doesn't reach the levels of Casino Royale or Skyfall. But its not Spectre either (Thank God) nor does it retroactively make that last entry better. They worked around those plot restrictions handcuffed to them, to their credit, instead of ignoring them. Something Eon did in years past.
You knew this meant business with an unusually long pre-credits opening (the credits didn't appear till a good 20 minutes in) and especially the death of Felix.
But Malek was under-developed and kinda lame. Save for his fantastic introduction. Alas Craig never had a proper villain to have a good hand-to-hand fight with. Oh well.
The callbacks to On Her Majesty's Secret Service was lazy shorthand. But the bold moves paid off.
To those upset, Craig was never playing the same Bond as Connery through Brosnan. From the start, Eon was clear in stating this was a reboot with its own continuity.
It's an earned finale.

I'll check out NTTD soon, but since this is it for Craig, I wouldn't mind Eon doing a complete reboot/retool/restart with a brand new Bond and cast. Maybe spin off a character for their own mini-series of films, and build a Bond universe akin to Marvel or Star Wars. I'd love to see a SPECTRE origin series, or more agents in the 00 program getting a chance to shine. I also woulddn't mind a Bond origin story to get this next series of films started.
I've been rewatching several of the old The Saint shows from the 60s/70s on one of the cable channels, and wouldn't mind the next Bond being more akin to Roger Moore's take, with the gadgets and occasional campy bits.

This is an earned finale my dick.
It's Rise of Skywalker for Bond. A rushed job that shows that EON had no plans for the last few years and that everything they haven't addressed for a decade plus finally caught up to them.
This movie was a mercy killing and the goal should be to focus on what to do next.My readers come to me for my thoughts and opinions. I've built myself into a brand

I respectfully disagree with you but I'll say this: there are plenty on the big Bond forum that I'm on who agree with you. It's definitely a polarizing movie.Originally posted by MartinWho the fuck is Kellan Lutz?Originally posted by gravediggerBasically what I'm saying is that, based on what I've watched so far, we should all listen to Matt more often.Originally posted by MartinAnd who the FUCK is Peaches Geldof?

The whole point of the movie was to wrap up the lingering SPECTRE Conspiracy in one fell swoop via a brand new villain with ties to the past that are superficial at best.
From there, they tie on out of the blue stakes to wrap up dangling plot lines that they could've resolved years ago.
All the while, we're supposed to care that Hardy McSourpuss Face suddenly wants to protect his family that he just discovered?
It's Rise of Skywalker.
The only thing it was missing was a training sequence where they CG'd Roger Moore's face on top of Craig.

Spectre was Craig's swan-song. Otherwise they wouldn't have made the decisions they did in part to appease Craig and to let Mendes do his version of a full-blown 70s era Bond fantasy epic.
And then it opened and people didn't like it. And then it didn't sit well with Craig and he reneged.Originally posted by AriThe only thing I want to tell her vagina is nomnomnomnomnomnomnomnom

I get the business dynamics of keeping Craig and Mendes happy. But, there's also this thing called storytelling. No Time to Die has probably 1 of the top 3 worst narratives in a Bond flick.
But even the other two tried to tell a story, No Time to Die was obligation on film.My readers come to me for my thoughts and opinions. I've built myself into a brand

It's symbolic of how the Broccolis bowed to Craig to make him happy. A mistake they made with Brosnan constantly blowing off his suggestions (for directors, actors to test and story ideas, yes including Tarantino) and telling him to shut up and say the lines.
Hence things ended ugly with Pierce.
They overcompensated with Craig.Originally posted by AriThe only thing I want to tell her vagina is nomnomnomnomnomnomnomnom
