Edwards is using a lot of AR on Rogue One for Pre Viz and otherwise. As far as I know, the CG Tarkin was a scrapped idea. But, the latest ILM PR videos show how they would/could/were/are able to pull it off.

Even if they did, it'd be a 2-3 minute role as far as I know.
