Definitely read the books, either before or after catching the flick, Bill. Great reads for the most part, and it gives you a look at how the sci-fi genre's changed since the first book.

Pretty good trailer - glad it's set in the same era as the original story was. Not 100% sold on the music they used for this (it's supposed to be an action-adventure flick, yet the music was so maudlin sounding for awhile until the crescendo), and just calling the flick John Carter might hinder things a bit as most of the audience might not even know who the hell he is (why not John Carter of Mars? The M is already there in the JCM thingy they're using! Plus, if this is supposed to be a franchise, why not give it an umbrella title like The Chronicles of John Carter: A Princess of Mars?).

I liked how it accompanied the visuals, which were rather familiar.
