We've all got 'em: films that you know/suspect/have been told are awesome that, for whatever reason, you simply haven't gotten around to seeing.

'Children of Men' (although I did start it and liked what I saw of it...we just never got around to finishing it)

'The Hustler' is great and 'Black Swan' is really good. I didn't care for 'The Thin Red Line' and I never saw 'Klute'.

I started watching The Thin Red Line once but wasn't really in the mood at the time, stopped, and just didn't go back. I should also hasten to add that my falling asleep during Taxi Driver had nothing to do with the quality of the film and everything to do with me staying up past my bed time.

I'd been following a discussion elsewhere regarding the "imagined crime" thriller, with Rear Window, Blow-Up, The Conversation and Blow Out being a capsule for each decade that followed it.

I think I might do this, as I've never seen The Conversation either and this sounds like the perfect excuse to do so.

Never saw Algiers, must remedy that. I've seen Badlands though. Definitely worthy of your time, mate.

I saw 'Badlands' a long, long time ago. I remember it being really good but that's about it. It's due for a re-watch.

I personally found 'The Thin Red Line' to be an overly indulgent, pretentious bore. It's gorgeous to look at and very well acted, but the driving force of the narrative just isn't there. OK, we're getting into the story, we're moving along...oh, another soliloquy on beauty followed by an examination of the flora and fauna. I saw it once in the theater and that's it.

I am WAY the fuck behind on my Miike films, and really need to watch more foreign stuff. There's a couple of Kurosawa films I've been meaning to check out too.

Stateside, far too many recent releases I haven't seen to list (X-Men: First Class, Deathly Hallows Part 1, Lovely Bones, etc.). I usually play catch-up during vacations, but I've sort of promised myself to check out Rome in a couple of weeks.
