I've watched it many times, just been a few months since my last viewing. It definitely has faults, but overall I think it's great. Now, Begins? Unwatchable. Katie Holmes absolutely devastates a decent film with her "acting."
Begins is hamstrung by a central character whose supposed morality is in direct conflict with his actions, the presence of a nonsensical macguffin, unnecessary exposition, and some of the most egregiously redundant dialogue ever committed to film.
Holmes is the least of its problems.
And what is the most fucked up thing? I enjoy it anyway.
I am hoping this one is better than Dark Knight or Begins. Begins could have easily been 20 minutes shorter. Dark Knight, I am beginning to think, was purposely baffling so as to accentuate the madness of the Joker. The way Heath plays that character is outstanding, especially when he is in the jail cell with the cop. Actually, his scene with Dent in the hospital is equally as chilling. Watch his face during both of these scenes. I re-watched the film last night and holy fuck.

I'm starting to agree with you and this point of view. A great QB can mask a lot of problems on a Football time, likewise, an outstanding performance from an actor can make up for a lot of short-comings in a script. Ledger turned in a fantastic performance. Iconic, really. But once you get past that, and really start looking at the story and film, the wheels start to come off.
Minor pet peeve: when the M&A attorney comes to Freeman and does his spiel, never once does the attorney identify Bruce Wayne. Yet Freeman just spills his identity. Bugs me every time.
Caught the end of Begins last night. At the end he says he will "Look into" Joker...but when Dark Knight rolls around does he have a single clue as to who/what The Joker is? I remember him being pretty well caught off guard.
