Somewhere online I read that the 3rd trailer for this before The A-Team had spoilers in it so I plugged my ears and closed my eyes and hummed Happy Birthday to myself until it was over.

I got to see it earlier than I expected. I was under the impression that I wouldn't see it until next week, but I got surprised today.

I'm not a big fan of Nolan. I think he's too cold and doesn't really exploit the talents of Wally Pfister like he should. Wally Pfister pushed his own way to those Oscar noms and he did it like a fucking champ. Hell, he's one of the best DPs in the world right now.

But, Inception is the first serious Best Picture contender of 2010. Sure, Winter Bone or whatever the fuck it's called (been a week or two since I saw it) will probably clean up on acting. Inception is smart and it knows how to use FX to actually enhance a story.

Ken Watanabe is still a fucking wreck when he's not playing the noble Asian roles. But, Ellen Page and DiCaprio save every scene. I hate to agree with Devin on anything, but he's right. Nolan put his bullshit aside and put on the pseudo Kubrick cap. But, I will say this as a caveat. Around the final sequence with Marion Cotillard, I felt him peak. I could almost pinpoint the minute where Nolan suddenly hit that level as a director that he'd never be able to recapture.

I'm not backlashing. I'm a pretty huge Nolan fan, and I have been sitting around with a massive hard on since this was announced. I still can't watch Batman Begins without cringing though.
