I don't know if I'm shocked at it's box office. Burton and Depp plus a well known property is a guaranteed cash cow. I didn't expect it to bring anything new, or original, to Burton's game but I expected good performances from Depp and Crispin Glover. Depp's accents (he uses like 3 or 4) are ill conceived and nonsensical.

He's shit. I had no idea he was in it, then he pops up (with a pretty major role), and is just horrible. I cannot stress this enough, NOTHING is good in this movie.Comment

I actually do like a lot of Burton's stuff, both earlier and later. I love the hell out of "Ed Wood" and "Mars Attacks!". I was curious to see "Alice", but I hear it just really sucks (not just from you guys). Plus, George is curious enough that he'd like to see it, but he's a human "Bad Movie-ometer" - if he likes or wants to see a movie, you can guarantee it sucks - so the fact that he'd like to see this means "stay away".
I hate to admit that - for everything else we have in common, we hate each other's taste in movies with very few exceptions.
