Empire have been doing this sort of cover-gorging for several years now. They did it for the Star Wars 30th anniversary celebrations and other "favourite movie" poll type editions, etc, if I remember correctly.
The other thing to remember is how unflattering that kind of treatment can make otherwise decent/passable character costume design with intensely shiny photo 'enhancement'. I'm not defending anything by saying that - just pointing out that it's something to consider, context-wise. They will, after all, probably look quite different in the movie.

I like the blue and yellow. It's like they're saying "we know you've always wanted the original suit. This is as close as you'll ever get so enjoy it, nerds."
