    mindless self indulgence

    this band is, to put it simply, ridonkulous.

    while they've gone a bit more mainstream lately, and have one of the most annoying fanbases in the history of time (ie: the 'scene' kids, euughhh), they're still a really fucking good band. a band that used to describe themselves as 'jungle pussy-punk', i'd say they're more a mix of hardcore/punk/rap/electronic. oh yeah, and they sing about subjects like getting in fights, doing drugs, hookers, how much they hate jimmy page and... masturbating?

    their album 'frankenstein girls will seem strangely sexy' is hilarious and definitely their best album, but their new album 'if' certainly has it's moments. it's a bassy, funny album about the downsides and upsides of being famous and doing a bunch of drugs. also, erectile dysfunction. why? because they can.

    aside from the fact that all the kids that shop at hot topic love these guys (it doesn't help that jhonen vasquez does a lot of their album art), they're pretty good.

    Only good album is Frankenstein girls...

    I <3333333 Lynz and their concerts were fun as shit to go to. Jhonen does the art? I thought it was Jamie Hewlett (at least for Frankenstein) I know Jhonen directed some videos.

        when they went mainstream, jhonen started doing a lot of the artwork and videos for them, and then all the sudden all the obnoxious kids started loving them. i've liked them since way way way WAY back, so it was sort of sad to see the transformation, but i still love 'em.

          i've been to two concerts, one about 4 years ago, and one just last week. it's fun to listen to jimmy urine insult the crowd the entire time.

            Well yeah, I've been into em when they were touring with ICP and shit. And you're totally right with the transformation to the mainstream...Redonkulous. But I fucking love Frankenstein girls...That album is crazy good. And a few songs off of You'll Rebel to aNything.

              'If' is pretty good, if you liked some of 'You'll Rebel' you might like a few songs off this one.
              Get It Up is hilarious, and Bomb This Track reminds me a lot of the old, rap-tastic MSI.

              also, have your heard their earlier albums, like pre-Frankenstein? because Tight and their self-titled album are really good, too.

                I enjoyed their self titled, but for me it all gelled during Frankenstein. That's the album I give people if they haven't ever heard of MSI.
