WRXP is at 101.9 FM. They replaced CD 101.9, a soft jazz station, about a year ago. It's where I heard the Airborne Toxic Event song, too.
I like the way the line runs up the back of the stocking.

Liked the Smiths. Now it's alright I guess.

But Morrissey is a cunt that deserves to be raped and left in a ditch.

No shit! Gotta put that station in my car radio's queue. Thanks, Iggy!

As for the Smiths and Morrisey, I used to hear 'em often enough back in college. The offices for the college radio station, 88.9 WMCX, were located right next door to the college newspaper. Used to draw all my cartoons and shit while hearing How Soon Is Now, Suffer Little Children, the Meat is Murder album, etc. The DJ, a gal named Jocelyn, played some great stuff, yet always with this twisted glee ("Tim! Think that was depressing? TRY THIS.").

I love the fact that Morrissey doesn't want to tour in Canada because of our seal hunt. I want to club the motherfucker just for that.

I gotta say, though, for a guy who seriously needs a fucking hug, I've never seen so many girls I know fucking MELT when he would favor the crowd with a tune. Can't even listen to Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now without flashing back to those days:

Any girl I knew: "Oh, Morrisey's so dreamy! I really feel for him in this song. He's SOOOOO sensitive."
                Me: "Uh, yeah."
Any girl I knew: "Oh, you just don't understand him. Y'know why? Because you don't know how he's suffering."
Me: "How's he suffering? Dude's a fuckin' millionaire and has a huge fanbase."
Any girl I knew: "Fuck you."

A Brit I went to colege with (the guy who turned me on to the Smiths, actually), told me Morrisey HATES women. Completely & unreservedly. He didn't go so far as to say he was gay (although others did), however. If you think about it, most of the Smiths' songs can be applied equally well to a male lover; he almost never refers to any of the companions in the songs as female (although he'll reference women in other - and always unflattering - ways, they're never the narrator's actual lovers when referred to specifically by gender). I'v never verified this. It could just be a coincidence, or an attempt to be more universal. Anyone know the answer to this, or want to crack some jokes?

I think a case could be made for misogyny in this instance. Truth be told, I'm not too keen on women at this point in my life. Actually... I'm really not too keen on people overall, which would make me more misanthropic than misogynistic.

But I am rather keen on Urban Dictionary's definition of 'misogynist'...

A man who hates every bone in a woman's body... except his.

I had my fill of The Smiths in college, Iggy. I had a fraternity brother down the hall who played their stuff quite frequently, and I even borrowed a few of his CDs every now and then. I enjoyed them then but I've never felt the want (or the need) to revisit them since. I'll hear a tune (like 'How Soon is Now') every once in a while and I'm satisfied.

I enjoyed a couple of his solo records in the 90s...they definitely rocked out more than his material with the Smiths...but they never grabbed me enough that I felt the desire to become a FAN. His persona also turned me off.

Hmmh... interesting. I mean, I always thought he was cute, but I've always assumed he was gay.

Pretty much. The description of "Asexual" to me has always translated to "A person who's gay, but just hasn't been able to come out of the closet yet" - meaning (and again, this is just my take on it), they don't want to admit to themselves that they're gay, but they're not attracted to the opposite sex, so they just say, "Fuck it", and force themselves to go with neither. And I know coming out is tough, that's not an easy thing to do. My ex boyfriend in college had a tremendously tough time with it, so I've been there first hand with someone who struggled with it. Plus, plenty of gay friends who had it rough, too.

What I find interesting here is rumors of how misogynistic Morrissey is. I've known a couple of men who were really closeted, hadn't come out to be honest with themselves, and just HATED women as a result. They felt forced by society, they went the asexual route as a result, you could tell they really leaned towards guys, and as a result were very nasty towards women. I didn't see it often, but a few.

Well, I've always thoroughly enjoyed The Smiths so we have each-other. Songs are still rightly cheered whenever they come on in a club in Manchester. Considering the amount of times that must have happened in the last 20+ years, that's pretty impressive.

                              "Still Ill" is a beaut.

I thought it was pretty well-known that Moz was gay. He likes the Latino boys out here in L.A., from what I hear.
