Spider, I feel you. I have no intention to upgrade my standard dvds to Blu-ray, with only a few exceptions. But you need an HDTV man. Even playing videogames, the picture quality with be amazing. Get a 1080p HDTV with HDMI hook-ups, and the PS3 will upconvert your standard dvds to a better picture quality, so no re-buying is necessary.Blog Time! http://plasticlovin.blogspot.com/

Also when buying a new LCD or Plasma make sure that it is not just 1080p but also 120hz, not 60hz.. With the 120hz the motion is so smooth no matter what you are watching or playing. Most of the newer sets are coming standard with 120hz...I'm Asian. I have naturally squinty eyes, which helps when reading small print/text.--Nerdious
