Grayson's suit is light mobile armor, but a heavy blow can still crack the plates. He gave up a lot of protection, since his fighting style is based on agility and constant movement.

Batman Beyond had some really good ideas. I think the problems with the show stemmed from the fact that Dini & Timm were also working on Superman and this made Batman Beyond somewhat of a rush job.

Funny you should mention Batman Beyond as I hated Cuarre. I thought she was annoying and way too powerful. That being said, "Inside Peak" was their best episode and it had a great ending.

I like what Morrison and Quitely did to Grayson's suit. The belt in particular is awesome in a Mr. T kind of way.
If we're talking movies, I'll go with the Keaton Batsuits (I prefer the first one most, second one's OK - didn't need the redesigned armored midsection). After that, the suits become way too overdesigned....
My favourite movie Batsuit is Keaton Mach 1. I'm with Tim on the simplicity trail; everything else is a little over-cooked for my liking. They don't bother me in their respective movies, but it's not how I'd have designed them. Billy's also a lot closer to my preference in terms of colour. I'm not a fan of this colour aversion some people seem to have in their costumes. It's one of the things that bothers me most about the prospect of X-Men: First Class. We've had the safe but fine Singer route. Now, it would be nice to see a ballsier approach.
