it's fucking amazing set design, music, and world building. Terrible story, shitty lead actress, and a terrible Ford acting display. BUT it does have Brion James and Rutger Hauer in some amazing roles.

Right, I've seen their clips. Dunno. I barely have time, space, etc to watch movies, especially super long ones.

POUTINE AND CELINE DION FOR EVERYONE!!!!
Yeah, I watched the original again recently. Well, the directors cut of the original. And really turned around on it. I was engaged the whole time even beyond the cool world and soundtrack.
I fucking dug the shit out of BR2049. Those 3 hours flew by. Ford was pretty good, Bautista was decent in his one scene, Leto worked for me a whole bunch, and Gosling handled his own throughout. Denis shot the SHIT outta of this. Dug all of the call backs to the original.
Highly recommended even if you didn't like the original.

Yeah, I liked the Leto in this one. His 'thing' worked for the role.
And Ford acted the shit out of this in general. His scene with 'Rachel' was particularly strong.
But the clear winner for me was the actress who played the hologram girlfriend, Joi. She's gonna be a big star if she gets a few more high profile roles.

Who the fuck is Kellan Lutz?

Basically what I'm saying is that, based on what I've watched so far, we should all listen to Matt more often.

Kellan Lutz's girlfriend?
Leto was probably the weakest part in the whole film to me. Like a Babby Nic Cage: all affectations in place of an actual character. The concept of his character was quite interesting and it is a bit of a shame that it wasn't really given its due with whom they cast.
Sylvia Hoeks' Luv is probably my favorite character to come out of the new film.
Netflix was dying to get their hands on this. And it makes since. This is a Netflix film through and through. Not a compliment.
It so desperately tries to do the Scorsese-thing stylistically (specifically Goodfellas/Casino/Wolf of Wall Street). But those brought an insight to a world alien to most of us. We look from afar and gasp at the insanity.
Here it's just white trash onscreen and they didn't go far enough for my tastes. If you're gonna tackle this, go all out. The raves it's getting are kinda baffling.
