  • Dude I loved Amazing Stories. I remember getting so psyched at night with my brother, having to get completely ready for bed, so we could stay up past 9 to watch it.

    These were all my favorites.

    Ghost Train
    Mummy Daddy
    The Mission
    The Amazing Falsworth
    Santa '85
    Mirror, Mirror
    Life on Death Row

    • I need to rewatch that show, honestly. I remember loving it as a kid yet no stories but the two I mentioned jump out at me now. However, that intro was ACES.

Watched it with my 3 years old, and he loved it. He keeps calling it "Evil Cars" in French, but he watched the entire thing smiling. And hte movie still holds up really well. The introduction of Optimus Prime and the rest of hte Autobots is still one fun geeky moment. And Turturro rocks so hard in this.

              Next up for son: Robocop.

                  • Well, my brother watched Total Recall on a loop at age six.

But a three year old just won't understand the hilarity of the City Hall hostage scene.

                    • But 3 is enough to understand the 3 titties hooker in Total Recall though.

                          • The greatest Boston film of the past thirty years.

Not the fucking Town. Fuck that bank robber bullshit. I already saw Heat, so I couldn't give a ratfuck about a rehash, no matter how much I miss Pete Postlethwaite.

I'm talkin' about Good Will Hunting, bitches.

                            Boring and obvious remarks below:

Damon is fantastic, but it is the supporting players who really make the movie. From his circle of friends to Skarsgard to Cocaine Cowboy Williams to Debbie Newberry, there isn't a weak link in the entire cast.

Van Sant's direction is loose when it needs to be, and is incredibly tight when it comes to the really emotional scenes. The blocking for the "it's not your fault" scene, the basketball court fight set to that fucking Gerry Rafferty song, and in the bar confrontation between Sean and Gerald Lambeau are all superb examples of his ability to craft great sequences that can stand on their own they're that well constructed.

Speaking of song choice, the masterstroke is in getting Elliot Smith on the soundtrack. How he didn't win anything that year for "Say Yes" or "Miss Misery" was a fucking travesty.

All around, it's still just as great as the first time I saw it years and years ago.
