'Goodfellas' was one of my absolute best theatrical viewing experiences. I saw it with some of my college fraternity brothers on opening weekend...we were all 'Godfather' fans and were hoping to watch something comparable. We were NOT expecting something that was arguably better. Great fun, and we couldn't stop talking about how awesome the film was for days.

Great choice, Bdubbs! Loved Casino, but yeah Stone's definitely the weak link in that pic. Didn't know about the Ginger Lynn stuff, Matt, but I don't know if her being in the flick would've helped the role much. Plus, not sure what sort of chemistry she'd have with deNiro in the film. Pesci, sure, there'd be some chemistry there, but not so much with DeNiro.

Great to see Rickles, as always, especially in a serious role. Same with Alan King, even though he got a pretty nasty send-off.

Had to say, one of the best bits was Nicky and Dominic in the cornfield. Ouch.

Had a similar experience as Matt - went to see Goodfellas with some buddies, and it would later turn out, a very large Italian American contingent. Not saying they were associates of any of the characters in the film, but some of the conversations as I left the theater - "And dat's why Henry was a fuckin' rat." "Hey, didja scene that scene where they whacked Tommy? Yeah, he wasn't that funny then, huh? HAHAHAHAHA!" "Yo, dat was wrong what Henry did ta Paulie, right? Fuckin' right I'm right."

It was a real treat to see this at the New Bev and Paul Sorvino was there talking about how the real mob guys just fucking loved how they were portrayed in that movie.

Remember the episode where French was giving a speech at a guy's funeral while listening to the football game? He was sliding in play-by-play commentary on the football game to Holiday, who was in the audience with a bet on the game.

Heh, back in my AICN chatting days one of the chatters on there used to call me "Crapgame". After watching the movie, I understood perfectly.

and yeah, 'Kelly's Heroes' is the goods. The only misstep in the film is the Sutherland character (in my opinion), but the film is so enjoyable that he can be easily overlooked.

'Where Eagles Dare' is my favorite Eastwood film, though.

I only saw 'the Eiger Sanction' once and honestly don't remember much about it. George Kennedy and mountain climbing, that's it.
